Despite Morgan Schneiderlin earning £100,000-a-week during his time at Manchester United, the ex-footballer's wife didn't rest on her laurels as she kept herself busy working in a shop

Ex-Manchester United star Morgan Schneiderlin looks to have had a seamless transition in his post-football career. The Frenchman, 35, enjoyed a 19-year career that saw him represent the likes of Southampton, Everton and the Red Devils in the Premier League.

After beginning his professional career with boyhood club Strasbourg, it was in 2008 that the midfielder swapped the side for the Saints and went on to stay on the south coast for the next seven years.

His consistent performances in the English top-flight caught the eye of the Premier League's elite, which saw him sign for the Red Devils in a £24million transfer in 2015. With the career-defining move came a significant bump in pay as he was awarded a whopping £100,000-a-week contract.

Despite the staggering numbers of his new deal, that didn't stop his wife, Camille Sold, from contributing financially in their relationship. Upon their arrival in Manchester, the couple resided at the five-star Lowry Hotel, with Camille spending her days manning the till and helping customers on the shop floor of the Adidas store in the city centre.

The pair have been together for over a decade, with their romance first being sparked in early 2015. It was in 2016 when Schneiderlin proposed to the former shop assistant during a holiday to the French Riviera before later marrying her the following year.

The Frenchman, who retired from football in 2024, left England in 2020 after a three-year stint at Goodison Park. He went on to play for the likes of Nice, Western Sydney Wanderers, Konyaspor and A.E. Kifisia.

Since calling time on his career, Schneiderlin, as per his Instagram bio, is in the process of completing his UEFA A license, the highest practical coaching award available. He's also ventured into media as a pundit for Canal+ Sport.

His sporting endeavours have not vanished completely as he's become a keen runner alongside his wife and recently completed his first marathon in April at the Paris Marathon. While Schneiderlin went on to experience life in three different countries after departing United, he later admitted that he ended his stay in Manchester prematurely.

"I learned a lot from my departure from Manchester United," the now 35-year-old told L’Equipe in 2022. "I had played 40 matches the previous season with Manchester. When I come back from the Euros, I take 10 days off and I play very little for three, four months.

"Then, I have Ronald Koeman and Everton who are pushing hard to get me, every day, from October. I will remember it all my life: I should have played against Liverpool, starter, and the coach (Mourinho) comes to see me.

"He tells me he doesn’t feel me inside the group. I tell him that indeed, with what has happened in the last three months, I am not in it and I want to go to Everton. I regretted it very quickly.

"Even if it went very well at Everton, when you play for Manchester United, when you’re at a club like that, it’s not for a moment of doubt that you have to question everything. Look at Ander Herrera: the first year I arrived, he was on the bench; he persevered, and today he is at PSG."
