Virat Kohli bowed down to Dinesh Karthik after he received the Orange Cap from the veteran batter. Kohli reclaimed the coveted cap after he scored 42 runs in the match against Gujarat Titans to topple Ruturaj Gaikwad from the top of the charts of most runs in IPL 2024 . Kohli now has 542 runs to his name in 11 innings.

Meanwhile, RCB defeated GT by 4 wickets to stay alive in the playoff race. Having bowled out GT for 147, RCB looked all set for a thumping win after Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli scored 92 runs in the powerplay. However, the partnership was followed by a massive collapse that saw RCB lose six wickets for 25 runs, making the RCB fans sweat. However, a composed Dinesh Karthik, who scored 21 not out in 12 balls, held his nerves to help RCB win the game.

The win has helped RCB stay alive in the playoff race. RCB need to win all their remaining games by big margins and reach 14 points. If there comes a situation where multiple teams are tied on 14 points, RCB can go through if they have the best run rate among all teams.

Earlier, RCB won the toss and put up a show with the ball. Mohammed Siraj, Yash Dayal, and Vijaykumar Vyshak picked two wickets as GT were bowled out for a mere 147.

Dinesh Karthik opened up on RCB's epic collapse and how he stayed calm and planned his innings that helped RCB cross over the line.

"Started with a cup of tea and then after about 4 overs, I had my first cappuccino. I thought I wasn't going to bat. I wasn't padded up, I wasn't mentally ready, I was just chilling. And then, things happened and then I had to pad up. I was a touch late but I just managed to make it. It's a very different sort of pressure, it's one thing chasing down totals in an interesting way and all you need to think about is hitting boundaries. But if there's a lot of time and you need to make sure that playing sensibly is also the need of the hour, then your basic cricketing skills come through, how you are able to hit boundaries without taking risks. Over a period of time, that's been my strengths, so I backed myself to that. The pitch was initially good to bowl on. Being under the covers for so long, there was a bit of moisture. It was sticky, tough to start on, good toss to win and we bowled very well. Got to give credit to the bowlers. No matter what the pitch is, to keep the score under the score we kept at the end of six overs is quite a task and I thought they bowled beautifully today. The way Faf and Virat batted, I don't think you could have played the some kind of shots if you were batting first. Also, the skill that both of them have, I enjoyed how they went about things. (Chat with Swapnil while facing Noor) I told Swapnil to play for the ball that comes in so that the one that goes away remains a dot ball. It looks good but doesn't get the wicket. He asked me if sweep was a good option and I said, "If you feel sweep is a good option, back yourself to do it but commit to the shot, don't be half-hearted." Then he executed those two sweep shots which were very good and that was the need of the hour in a way," said Karthik.
