Oregon has been setting the pace in the recruitment of Jett Washington for months. After he was in Eugene for the Ohio State game last fall, the Ducks have been at least one of his top two schools. Much of the time, they were his No. 1 school and at the end, the Ducks finished on top and he has committed to Dan Lanning.“Oregon has what I am looking for,” Washington told On3. “My relationships with the coaches are strong, coach Lanning is a defensive-minded head coach, I love the whole environment and Oregon sets their guys up for life after football. Just the fit at Oregon is right for me.”Alabama and USC were the other schools on Washington’s list. The Crimson Tide were right there battling the Ducks over the last few weeks, but this decision was made and the No. 27 prospect in the On3 Industry Ranking feels great about it.“It goes back to last April. That is when we started talking, then after a visit in the fall, things started to ramp up with Oregon around January. After my junior season, things picked up and my interest in Oregon grew.“Each visit went well. They got better each time and I started to feel good about Oregon. Me and coach Hampton developed a strong relationship. I love his energy. Coach Lupoi has a great plan for me as a high safety too. Then that feeling I had on my official visit was big.“Getting around those coaches again and spending more time on campus had me thinking about my decision. I went home, thought about it and I knew it was Oregon.”Washington is the second five-star to commit to Oregon, joining tight end Kendre Harrison. The new commit is excited about his future in Eugene.“Coach Lanning is a great coach and Oregon is a top program,” Washington said. “I love the fit and I know Oregon will develop me and set me up.”
