During the post-match press conference following India’s victory in the Asia Cup 2025 final, Indian T20 captain Suryakumar Yadav was confronted by a Pakistani journalist over his team's conduct throughout the tournament. The journalist accused the Indian side of politicizing the game, citing their refusal to shake hands with Pakistani players, their absence from the official trophy photo session, and the team’s unwillingness to accept the trophy from Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi. He asked Yadav whether he saw himself as the first captain to bring politics into cricket.

Attempting to defuse the tension, Yadav responded calmly despite being interrupted by the Indian media manager. He replied, “Do I have to answer or not? Gussa ho rahe ho aap (You're getting angry). I couldn't even understand your question — you asked four questions at the same time.” His response drew attention for its composed tone amid a heated exchange.

The controversy had been brewing throughout the tournament, with India’s consistent refusal to engage with Pakistani players attracting criticism. The situation escalated when the Indian team declined to accept the trophy from Naqvi, who has a history of anti-India remarks. In a symbolic gesture, Yadav later announced he would donate his match fees to the Indian Army. (With inputs from Agencies)
