Why Patrick Dorgu now has Chinazaekpere in his name on Manchester United teamsheets

Patrick Dorgu has had an eventful start at Man United and he will be available to play again in the Premier League next week.

Dorgu joined United in the winter transfer window

There have been a couple of name changes at Manchester United in recent months. Chido Obi dropped the 'Martin' from his name and his fellow Dane, Patrick Dorgu, is now down as Patrick Chinazaekpere Dorgu.

Dorgu's full name has been added to his profile on the United website, teamsheets and the squad list on the back of the United Review programme.

United confirmed that the request came from Dorgu's family as it relates to their heritage and religion. Dorgu's parents were born in Nigeria and Chinazaekpere roughly translates as 'God answers prayers' in Igbo.

Dorgu, 20, joined United from Lecce in the winter transfer window for £25million rising to £29m and has made six appearances. He was suspended for three games due to his red card in the 3-2 Premier League home win against Ipswich Town.

The Denmark international has served his three-match ban and will be available when United resume their domestic campaign at Nottingham Forest in the Premier League next Tuesday.

Dorgu played a pivotal role in United's 4-1 Europa League victory against Real Sociedad, earning the matchwinning penalty and drawing the foul that led to Jon Aramburu's red card.

"I obviously saw Ruben in Sporting and could already see the ideas he had," Dorgu said earlier this month. "A really attacking system and I would like to get in the box and score goals.

"He (Amorim)'s talking about, obviously, the connection with the other players, the midfielders, the 10s, it's the connections, a lot of deep runs and movement.

"It was not nice to get the red card but it is football and I just need to learn from this and improve my game. I am settling in Manchester, the training is good.

Dorgu started in both of Denmark's Nations League ties with Portugal over the past week, assisting Christian Eriksen's tap-in in Denmark's 5-2 defeat in Lisbon on Sunday night.
