Iga Swiatek does not view Emma Raducanu as a bigger draw than anybody else

Iga Swiatek revealed that she was not overly fussed about playing against Emma Raducanu after beating the Brit in the quarter-finals of the Stuttgart Open. Swiatek won in straight sets but was made to work hard by Raducanu, who put in a solid performance against the world's top-ranked player despite the result.

Raducanu has endured a difficult couple of years but is still among the best-known female players thanks to her profile and celebrity status. Swiatek, however, does not see Raducanu as a bigger draw than any other player on the WTA circuit.

"I mean, for fans, for sure, it's nice," said the Pole after beating Raducanu in Germany. "I mean, we have plenty of players to play against on the WTA Tour. "I wouldn't say Emma is the one specific that I'm looking forward to play with, because we have tough matchups, you know, every week. Doesn't really matter for me."

Swiatek's win over Raducanu came two years after she defeated the former US Open champion at the same event in 2022. She admitted that Raducanu had improved since their last meeting, pointing out that Friday's match was played at a higher intensity.

"Honestly, I played so many matches since then, I don't really remember how it went two years ago," added Swiatek. "I just remember I was, you know, surprised with how she can spin the ball on her forehand, because we never played before. "I never knew she was capable of that and today I knew that. I think she has a really good placement. She was serving, you know, even though it wasn't like 180, it was sometimes on the line and pretty tricky, so she's mixing it up.
