All of the information below and more can be found in PFF’s power rankings tool, which is available with a PFF+ subscription. It’s important to note that these rankings consider more than just win-loss records and playoff seeding. Factors like player and team-level grades, offensive and defensive efficiency, prior performance from past seasons, and strength of schedule all play a role. This is why teams with worse records and slimmer playoff hopes may rank higher than those with better records who have managed wins against weaker opponents or delivered inconsistent performances from key players.1. Buffalo Bills (No change)Chance of making playoffs: 98%Chance of winning Super Bowl: 20%It wasn’t the cleanest game in the world for the Bills, who turned the ball over for the first time this season and were assessed 11 penalties in their 31-19 win over the New Orleans Saints, but they remain undefeated. James Cook continues to be on a tear. The running back has rushed for 100 yards in three straight games, and his 82.2 overall PFF grade is third among running backs.2. Philadelphia Eagles (No change)Chance of making playoffs: 92%Chance of winning Super Bowl: 12%The Eagles remain undefeated following a huge 31-25 win on the road against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but once again, it was a disjointed performance from the offense. It should matter, but as long as the Eagles keep winning, and the defense keeps playing well — Philly’s 76.7 overall PFF grade is fifth among defenses — then a real dissection about what’s going wrong with the offense won’t be entirely necessary.3. Kansas City Chiefs (Up 3)Chance of making playoffs: 79%Chance of winning Super Bowl: 10%The Chiefs got themselves back on track on Sunday, defeating the Ravens 37-20 at Arrowhead Stadium in an established performance. This was as good as we’ve seen the Chiefs offense all season — and the return of Xavier Worthy, who earned an 81.0 overall PFF grade in the win, certainly helped. With Rashee Rice’s return on the horizon, is this a sign of things to come?4. Detroit Lions (Up 1)Chance of making playoffs: 74%Chance of winning Super Bowl: 7%The Lions are rolling through four weeks, and look every bit as good as one could have hoped following the loss of Aaron Glenn and Ben Johnson. On paper, the Browns shouldn’t have provided much of a problem, but their defense has been one of the best in the NFL through the first month of the season. The Lions traversed that issue with the help of Amon-Ra St. Brown, whose 89.6 overall PFF grade is third among receivers.5. Green Bay Packers (Down 1)Chance of making playoffs: 77%Chance of winning Super Bowl: 7%The Packers have oscillated between a good team that beats good squads and a good team that can’t beat bad franchises this season, demonstrated by their thrilling 40-40 tie with the Cowboys on Sunday night. If the NFL were a game of “should’ve, would’ve, could’ve,” the Packers would be sitting at 4-0 and looking like a potential juggernaut — but instead, they’re 2-1-1 and struggling to uncover their full potential. Jordan Love has stepped up, though; his 82.6 overall PFF grade ranks sixth among quarterbacks.6. Los Angeles Rams (Up 4)Chance of making playoffs: 73%Chance of winning Super Bowl: 5%The Rams made amends for the loss to the Eagles a week ago with a 27-20 win against the Colts in Week 4. Luck was on the Rams' side in the victory, as the Colts had two touchdowns called back, but also on the Rams' side is Puka Nacua. The third-year receiver caught 13 passes for 170 yards and a touchdown, notching a 92.6 overall PFF grade. It’s too early for awards, but Nacua is on an all-time great pace right now.7. Los Angeles Chargers (No change)Chance of making playoffs: 82%Chance of winning Super Bowl: 6%Just when we think the Chargers are ready to take the next step, they go and lose to the Giants and a rookie quarterback making his first career start. Justin Herbert was pressured on 45.5% of his dropbacks, as the Chargers were without three starting offensive linemen after losing Joe Alt early on. Chargers fans will hope that this is a one-game blip, but a tough game against the Commanders in Week 5 awaits.8. San Francisco 49ers (No change)Chance of making playoffs: 72%Chance of winning Super Bowl: 3%The return of Brock Purdy against the Jaguars didn’t quite go to plan. Purdy threw two interceptions and compiled a 61.7 overall PFF grade as the 49ers turned the ball over four times and fell to the Jacksonville Jaguars at home. The reality is, the 49ers are banged up and are likely playing above their means right now at 3-1. When healthy, they’re a talented team worthy of challenging for the playoffs, and the return of George Kittle over the next few weeks will help.9. Washington Commanders (No change)Chance of making playoffs: 39%Chance of winning Super Bowl: 2%With Jayden Daniels hopefully returning to the lineup in Week 5, the Commanders will be more than happy with splitting their record in the two weeks he missed, though the 34-27 loss to the Falcons will still sting. In his two starts in place of Daniels, Marcus Mariota has earned a 91.8 overall PFF grade, the highest among all quarterbacks in the NFL. How much higher can Daniels lift the team?10. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (Up 1)Chance of making playoffs: 75%Chance of winning Super Bowl: 3%The Buccaneers came up short in the battle of two 3-0 teams, losing 31-25 to the Eagles at home despite clawing their way back into the game in the second half. The offensive line struggled, though the return of Tristan Wirfs — who earned a 64.1 overall PFFgrade — as well as Chris Godwin was a welcome sight. The bad news? The Buccaneers face the Seahawks, 49ers and the Lions in their next three games. The road doesn’t let up.11. Denver Broncos (Up 3)Chance of making playoffs: 49%Chance of winning Super Bowl: 3%A dominant 28-3 win for the Broncos against a Bengals team that looked like it’s all out of fight, but an impressive victory nonetheless. Denver’s rushing attack looked as good as it has all season, rushing for 186 yards, and that allowed the passing game to flourish. J.K. Dobbins has been one of the better free agency additions, as his 73.9 overall PFF grade is 13th among running backs in the NFL. As predicted, the defense is still one of the best in the NFL, placing in EPA per play allowed.12. Seattle Seahawks (Up 3)Chance of making playoffs: 54%Chance of winning Super Bowl: 2%The Seahawks’ hot start isn’t too much of a surprise; the defense was expected to be one of the top units in the NFL, and is currently a top-10 unit in EPA per play allowed. However, no one anticipated Sam Darnold to be the highest-graded quarterback in the NFL at a 91.1 mark. Darnold had a strong second half against the Arizona Cardinals on Thursday and marched downfield to put the Seahawks in range of a last-second field goal. The Seahawks are off to a 3-1 start.13. Jacksonville Jaguars (Up 3)Chance of making playoffs: 70%Chance of winning Super Bowl: 3%As the weeks progress, the Jacksonville Jaguars‘ offense continues to put the pieces together. The rushing attack is 11th in EPA per play following the 26-21 road win against the 49ers, and the passing game arguably looked as good as it has all season. And that’s with Brian Thomas Jr. and Travis Hunter still finding their roles in the offense. Following an excellent road win, the Jaguars are now 3-1.14. Minnesota Vikings (Down 2)Chance of making playoffs: 29%Chance of winning Super Bowl: 1%The Vikings felt the force of the Steelers‘ defense in Dublin, with Carson Wentz hitting the turf seven times in the 24-21 loss. The Vikings' offensive line depth is depleted right now, and though he played admirably, Carson Wentz isn’t the quarterback to lift this team. The front office and fans hope that upon returning from injury, J.J. McCarthy can be that gunslinger. In the meantime, it’s up to the defense, which ranks 1st in EPA per play allowed, to be a consistent difference maker.15. Pittsburgh Steelers (Up 3)Chance of making playoffs: 71%Chance of winning Super Bowl: 3%The Steelers' defense has taken some flak this season. The aging unit gave up over 30 points in its first two games of the season, but has bounced back over the last two weeks, and played a big part in shutting down the Vikings in their 24-21 win in Dublin. The same goes for D.K. Metcalf, whose 79.6 overall PFF grade is fifth among receivers. In classic Steelers fashion, the team is now 3-1 and leads the AFC North heading into its Week 5 bye.16. Indianapolis Colts (Down 3)Chance of making playoffs: 64%Chance of winning Super Bowl: 3%The Colts are some egregious mental mistakes away from starting the season 4-0. They were penalized 11 times against the Rams, and had two touchdowns called back — one when Adonai Mitchell fumbled the ball, celebrating heading to the end zone, and another on a long Jonathan Taylor run — while turning the ball over three times. At 3-1, though, the Colts are still in a good spot. They’re still tied atop the AFC South, and the offense is second in EPA per play. How they respond in Week 5 against the Raiders will say a lot about this team's gumption.17. Houston Texans (Up 3)Chance of making playoffs: 30%Chance of winning Super Bowl: 2%For the Texans, it won’t matter who they beat in Week 4 — just that they finally got a win under their belt. The 26-0 defeat over the Titans was a rout, and the first time the Texans had shut out an opponent since 2010 — it also coincided with DeMeco Ryans handing over defensive play-calling duties to defensive coordinator Matt Burke. The offense looked better on Sunday, and C.J. Stroud’s 71.8 PFF passing grade was his highest of the season. Baby steps in Houston.18. Atlanta Falcons (Up 3)Chance of making playoffs: 43%Chance of winning Super Bowl: 1%The Falcons had to bounce back from an embarrassing shutout by the Carolina Panthers in Week 3, and they did with a 34-27 win against the Commanders. The offense played better, especially the Michael Penix Jr. and Drake London connection. Penix hit London eight times for 110 yards and a touchdown, with London compiling an excellent 91.3 overall PFF grade. It’s still early days, and the Falcons are on a Week 5 bye, but they’ll hope they can put the pieces together in the next few weeks.19. Chicago Bears (No change)Chance of making playoffs: 20%Chance of winning Super Bowl: 1%Call it back-to-back wins for the Bears heading into their Week 5 bye after the 25-24 road victory against the Las Vegas Raiders. Things are starting to click for the Bears' offense as it begins to take shape in Ben Johnson’s vision, and Caleb Williams‘ 75.0 overall PFF grade is 11th among quarterbacks in the NFL right now. He’s stepped up his play in a short amount of time, and the Bears will now use the bye to continue to grow the unit.20. Arizona Cardinals (Down 3)Chance of making playoffs: 21%Chance of winning Super Bowl: 1%After two early wins, the Cardinals have now lost back-to-back one-score games against NFC West opponents, and sit at 2-2. The margin for error in one of the best divisions in football will be razor-thin come the end of the season, so the Cardinals are already playing a dangerous game. Arizona has the opportunity to get back on track against the Titans in Week 5, but Kyler Murray — who registered a 52.5 overall PFF grade against the Seahawks — and the rest of the offense will need to kick it up a notch.21. New England Patriots (Up 3)Chance of making playoffs: 39%Chance of winning Super Bowl: 1%A big performance from the Patriots in Week 4, dismantling the Carolina Panthers 42-13 in a matchup that never felt like a contest between two 1-2 teams. The ascension of Drake Maye in Year 2 feels like one of the big talking points for the team, as his 73.9 overall PFF grade is 12th among quarterbacks. On top of that, the Patriots' offense ranks 10th in EPA per play. Big steps forward in Mike Vrabel’s first year in charge.22. Dallas Cowboys (No change)Chance of making playoffs: 12%Chance of winning Super Bowl: <1%It’s a shame that this version of the Dallas Cowboys will likely be doomed to mediocrity. The offense — led by Dak Prescott playing at an MVP level — is currently fifth in EPA per play, while the defense — which gave up over 30 points for the third consecutive week — languishes dead last in EPA per play allowed. On the bright side, at least the Cowboys didn’t lose in a thrilling 40-40 tie.23. Las Vegas Raiders (No change)Chance of making playoffs: 16%Chance of winning Super Bowl: 1%The Raiders were within reach of a 2-2 start, but instead have dropped three straight games following their 25-24 loss to the Chicago Bears. The warning signs regarding Geno Smith’s play are there to see, too. The offensive line play has been bad, and that’s forced Smith into some erratic decision-making. His 60.9 overall PFF grade — 29th in the NFL — reflects that. Up next, a trip to the 3-1 Colts.24. Baltimore Ravens (Down 21)Chance of making playoffs: 34%Chance of winning Super Bowl: 1%Nothing is going right for the Ravens right now. They’re 1-3 after the 37-20 blowout loss to the Chiefs in Week 4, a game Lamar Jackson exited early with a hamstring injury — and now, his availability for a Week 5 matchup against the Texans is in doubt. On top of that, the defense has lost star defender Nnamdi Madubuike for the season with a neck injury. That’s a major concern for a defense that already ranks 29th in EPA per play allowed.25. Miami Dolphins (No change)Chance of making playoffs: 16%Chance of winning Super Bowl: <1%An impressive offensive performance for the Miami Dolphins in Week 4, defeating the New York Jets 27-21 on Monday Night Football — but one that came at a significant cost. With All-Pro receiver Tyreek Hill confirmed to be out for the rest of the season with a torn ACL and dislocated knee, the Dolphins' offense has lost the biggest part of its passing game. That’s bad news for a 1-3 team looking to kick on.26. New York Giants (Up 5)Chance of making playoffs: 5%Chance of winning Super Bowl: <1%What a start for the New York Giants in the Jaxson Dart era. The coaching staff didn’t ask Dart to carry too much of the load in his first career start, but the rookie quarterback added sorely needed fire and intensity, helping the Giants to a 21-18 win against the Chargers. The bad news? Star receiver Malik Nabers is out for the season with a torn ACL.27. Carolina Panthers (Down 1)Chance of making playoffs: 12%Chance of winning Super Bowl: <1%A real backward step for the Panthers team in Week 4, losing 42-13 to the Patriots after shutting out the Falcons in Week 3. That inconsistency is what has plagued this franchise for far too long, and at some point, some serious questions need to be asked regarding the direction of the team. At least the Panthers have a star in first-round receiver Tetairoa McMillan. His 74.3 overall PFF grade ranks 16th among receivers in the NFL.28. Cincinnati Bengals (Down 1)Chance of making playoffs: 29%Chance of winning Super Bowl: 1%The Bengals looked like a team down and out in Week 4, losing 28-3 to the Broncos; considering we’re only four weeks into the season, that’s a worrying sign. The team was obviously going to regress in the wake of losing Joe Burrow until at least December, but the lack of bite across the board wasn’t to be expected. The defense and offense are both bottom 10 in EPA per play. That 2-0 cushion that felt like it could do them the world of good? That’s gone. It’s back to square one in Cincinnati.29. Cleveland Browns (Down 1)Chance of making playoffs: 13%Chance of winning Super Bowl: <1%The Browns put up a good fight in Detroit, but eventually fell 34-10 to the Lions in Week 4. Despite that, the Browns' defense still has the highest grade in the NFL. As we say every week, they’ll continue to play folks hard until they have nothing left, and that’s an admirable trait. The offense needs a little bit more oomph, and it might have found that with second-round running back Quinshon Judkins. His 72.5 overall PFF grade is 15th among running backs.30. New York Jets (Down 1)Chance of making playoffs: 7%Chance of winning Super Bowl: <1%The Jets are one of three remaining 0-4 teams in the NFL after their Monday night loss to the Dolphins. It took a while to get rolling, but the Jets played hard until the final few minutes before falling 27-21. Still, the only thing that matters is that the team is 0-4. Another great Garrett Wilson season looks to be lost to the archives. His 77.9 overall PFF grade is seventh among wide receivers.31. Tennessee Titans (Down 1)Chance of making playoffs: 2%Chance of winning Super Bowl: <1%We’re only four weeks in, and not even Cameron Ward can elevate what’s been the worst offense in the NFL. The unit ranks dead last in EPA per play through four games, and was held scoreless against the Texans in Week 4. Calls for Brian Callahan to be the first coach in the NFL to be on his way out in 2025 are growing, too. Things could get ugly fast for a team that had a fair bit of moral momentum heading into 2025.32. New Orleans Saints (No change)Chance of making playoffs: 2%Chance of winning Super Bowl: <1%
