Alan Shearer makes 'absolutely battered' Aston Villa claim after Newcastle United drawAston Villa played out a 0-0 draw with Newcastle United as their Premier League campaign commenced on SaturdayAlan Shearer (Image: Getty Images)Alan Shearer believes Newcastle United 'absolutely battered' Aston Villa in their goalless draw at Villa Park on Saturday. The Premier League was back at Villa Park this weekend but the Lions were made to settle for a point on the opening day having been reduced to ten men after Ezri Konsa was sent off in the second half.Newcastle, without a centre forward having released Callum Wilson and in the midst of the ongoing transfer saga involving talisman Alexander Isak, utilised Anthony Gordon, Anthony Elanga and Harvey Barnes in their front three but they couldn't break down Villa having enjoyed the better of the opportunities.Konsa was sent off in the second period for bringing down Gordon and denying a goalscoring opportunity, and Shearer was impressed by his former team's application despite not having a recognised forward, claiming that they were fitter and stronger than their hosts."Through no fault of their own they are having to deal with that situation," Shearer told MOTD. "I thought their attitude was excellent. They looked far fitter than Aston Villa, stronger than Aston Villa and they certainly created more chances, but the big thing is they didn't take them."It's a clear red card. Konsa has to go, he brings him down, clear red card. In terms of performance, particularly in the first half, you can see that they absolutely battered Aston Villa."What is Villa's transfer priority this summer?
