THE LIMERICK senior hurlers will face Dublin this Saturday in the All-Ireland senior hurling quarter-final on Saturday at 4pm in Croke Park. Meanwhile, the Limerick senior footballers will play Wicklow in the Tailteann Cup semi-final on Sunday at 2pm in the GAA headquarters.2018 was the last time Limerick came through the All-Ireland quarter-final route on their way to All-Ireland glory. Limerick advanced directly into the All-Ireland semi-finals for the six years between 2019 and 2024.John Kiely's charges will look to bounce back after their heartbreaking penalty shootout defeat to Cork in the Munster final.Meanwhile, Dublin got their championship campaign back on track with a resounding 3-25 to 0-13 victory over Kildare in the All-Ireland preliminary quarter-final on Saturday.It was a mixed Leinster championship for the Dubs’ as they recorded wins over Wexford, Offaly and Antrim, while suffering defeats to Galway and Kilkenny.This is the first meeting between Limerick and Dublin since the 2015 qualifier where the Dubs’ defeated the Shannonsiders by a single point. Seven members of the current Limerick senior hurling panel featured in that clash, including Nickie Quaid, Cian Lynch, Declan Hannon, Shane Dowling, Dan Morrissey and David Reidy. We will regroup, we will refresh, we're in a good place.”A win for Limerick would see them advance to the All-Ireland semi-final against Kilkenny on July 6 in Croke Park. Galway and Tipperary meet in the other All-Ireland quarter-final next weekend with the winners facing Cork in the All-Ireland semi-final on Saturday, July 5 in Croke Park.There are plenty of links between Limerick and Dublin. Garryspillane native Maurice O'Brien lined out for the ‘Boys in Blue’ between 2009 and 2013, winning a Leinster title with Dublin in 2013 and he also won a National League title. Last January, South Liberties clubman Brian Ryan and Adare's Charlie McCarthy were part of the the Na Fianna side that won the All-Ireland senior hurling club title. St Senan's Eoin Roche was the coach of the Dublin club side.Eoghan McNamara made the switch from Doon to south Dublin club Faugh s in 2023 was part of the Dublin hurling squad earlier this year.
