Andy Reid expands on fiery Travis Kelce moment during Chiefs' win

Andy Reid had no real issue with Travis Kelce’s latest sideline outburst.

Speaking to reporters Sunday night after the Chiefs notched their first win of the season, a 22-9 road victory over the Giants, Kansas City’s longtime coach expanded on a heated moment involving his star tight end. The pair jawed at one another during the first half, with Reid even bumping Kelce’s left shoulder.

“I love Travis’ passion, man,” Reid said, according to ESPN. “I’m OK with that. We didn’t have enough of it in the second quarter. It wasn’t where we needed it to be, so, within reason, he knows when to back off the pedal and knows when to push it too.

“That’s the part I love about him. The guy is all-in. Sometimes, I have to be the policeman. He’s an emotional guy.”

The tense exchange between Reid, 67, and Kelce, 35, occurred in the second quarter with Kansas City holding a 6-0 lead, as NBC’s “Sunday Night Football” highlighted the moment on its national broadcast.

“We’ve seen them before kinda get heated there, but you can sense the frustration on both sides of that story,” play-by-play caller Mike Tirico said.

When addressing the incident at halftime to the program’s sideline reporter, Melissa Stark, Reid said, “That’s OK. We need some juice.”

Kelce, who had four receptions for 26 yards in the Week 3 win, was not present in Kansas City’s locker room when the media was permitted to go inside, ESPN reported.

The spat with Reid comes one week after the three-time Super Bowl champ slammed his helmet and appeared to yell, “I’m sick of this s–t!” at halftime of the Chiefs’ eventual 17-10 loss to Philadelphia.

The Chiefs improved to 1-2 with their win over the Giants and will host the Ravens next Sunday at Arrowhead Stadium.
