Tottenham and Aston Villa players respond to new Burnley transfer announcement

Burnley’s latest transfer announcement caught the eye of multiple Premier League stars as Scott Parker bulks up his squad ahead of next season.

The Clarets went toe-to-toe with Daniel Farke’s Leeds United for the entirety of the 2024/25 campaign, finishing second in the Championship, only missing out on top spot on goal difference.

Marcus Edwards has already arrived on a permanent deal from Sporting CP, with Max Weiss and Quilindschy Hartman also being signed from Germany and the Netherlands, respectively.

However, Football Insider understands that Newcastle United will overpay in a deal for James Trafford, CJ Egan-Riley is leaving on a free transfer, and Josh Brownhill is set to run down his contract.

Parker is at a huge disadvantage ahead of the 2025/26 campaign unless the boardroom sanction multiple more deals this summer, and that is exactly what is going on behind the scenes at Turf Moor.

Scott Parker requires experienced talents for Premier League survival

Football Insider verdict

Losing Brownhill will be one of the biggest blows, having notched 18 goals and six assists in the Championship as the Clarets won promotion straight back to the Premier League.

Parker will know that experienced minds will be required if his side are to survive the threat of relegation, and Football Insider understands that Burnley are plotting a move for Tomas Soucek.

The 30-year-old has over 200 appearances for West Ham since arriving from Slavia Prague back in January 2020, which would add some much-needed depth the middle of the field.

Mick Brown told Football Insider that Burnley have also joined the Manor Solomon race, having impressed immensely during his season-long loan with Leeds last term.

Maxime Esteve and Luca Koleosho have both also been linked with exits at Turf Moor, and losing more stars ahead of the new season would be a crushing blow for the manager.

Parker is well aware of what it takes to survive in the Premier League, having worked with Fulham and Bournemouth previously, and supporters will believe he can achieve that with the Clarets.
