Smriti Mandhana Records Quickest Hundred As An Indian In Women's Cricket, Goes Past Harmanpreet Kaur's Milestone

In what can be called a purple-patch in her batting career, Mandhana recorded a century in just 70 balls overtaking Harmanpreet Kaur's 87-ball ton in 2024 against South Africa.

The 28-year-old opener, Mandhana, delivered a spectacular performance by scoring her 10th ODI century, which featured nine fours and four sixes. Her impressive innings places her in the record books, with her triple-figure score equaling the joint-seventh fastest in the format—a feat previously achieved by former England cricketer Charlotte Edwards in 2012.

Mandhana, along with fellow opener Pratika Rawal, has built a mammoth 200-plus run partnership, providing India with a solid foundation after opting to bat first in this dead rubber match.

Earlier, India won the toss and opted to bat first in the third and final ODI against Ireland in Rajkot.

In the second ODI, India had posted 370 for 5 - their highest ODI total. "We do not have a target in mind," Mandhana said this time. "We just want to see how it goes."

Ireland captain Gaby Lewis said she also wanted to bat first. "We have had two days off and are well rested," Lewis said.
