Ruben Amorim told 'key' to unlock full potential of his Man Utd managerial reign, it's within touching distance

Ruben Amorim could see all of the puzzle pieces fall into place at Old Trafford if the Manchester United manager can tap into one all-important aspect in his run.

The 40-year-old ex-Sporting CP head coach faced immense pressure in the opening weeks of the 2025-26 Premier League season after a mixed start to the season.

Grimsby Town knocked Manchester United out of the Carabao Cup in August and the Red Devils struggled to build a consistent run of form in the Premier League.

However, the pressure has since eased up on Ruben Amorim, who has seen United win three of their last five Premier League matches in the 2025-26 campaign.

The Red Devils were on a three-match winning streak in October after United beat Sunderland at home, Liverpool at Anfield and Brighton at Old Trafford.

However, the Red Devils did drop Premier League points at the weekend after United clinched a 2-2 draw against Nottingham Forest at City Ground.

Juan Mata explains what Man Utd manager Ruben Amorim needs to do at Old Trafford

Despite Manchester United’s comeback draw against Nottingham Forest, the Red Devils have only managed to lose once in their last five Premier League matches.

United’s recent run of form under Ruben Amorim has allowed the Red Devils to remain in the top half of the table and keep them in contention for the top six.

Former Red Devils and Chelsea star Juan Mata has now suggested that a missing component for United is their ability to sustain momentum under Amorim’s reign.

“Momentum is key for any club in football, but especially for a club with the size and expectations of Manchester United,” he told ESPN.

“When you get into a momentum of bad results — and I suffered it with the club, also — it feels like it’s very difficult to get out from there.

“But if you get a momentum like this now, hopefully they can build from it and not think about the bad results that they had in the beginning.”

United are eighth in the Premier League table and the Red Devils are only one point outside of the top four after 10 matches played in the 2025-26 campaign.

Juan Mata, who now plays for A-League side Melbourne Victory, is hopeful that the Red Devils’ last five fixtures could be the turning point that United have needed.

“Momentum is key, and hopefully, this is a moment in the season where they really change and look up and not down anymore,” he added.

“Results have been better with three wins, one draw, and no losses.

“Hopefully, that can create a sense of momentum within the dressing room, with the confidence of the players and also with the connection with the fans.”

United will now meet sixth-place Spurs at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday afternoon for the Red Devils’ final clash before the November break.
