A young Indian football team will look to make a statement in Group B of the AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2026 Qualifiers, which will be held in Thailand from June 23 to July 5.

All of India’s matches will be played at the 700th Anniversary of Chiang Mai Stadium and will be available on live streaming in India.

India women, 70th in the FIFA rankings, will kick off their campaign against world No. 126 Mongolia on June 23 in Group B.

The Blue Tigresses’ biggest test will come against Thailand, ranked 46th, in their final group match on July 5. World No. 158 Timor Leste and Iraq, ranked 173rd, round up the group.

While the AFC Women's Asian Cup 2003 was the last time that the Blue Tigresses’ qualified for the tournament, Crispin Chettri’s side is aiming to become the first Indian team to qualify for the AFC Women’s Asian Cup through the qualification route.

With an average age of just 23.6 years, this is one of the youngest squads India have fielded at this level.

The AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2026 Qualifiers has a total of 34 teams that have been split across eight groups for the qualifiers. Group A and B feature five teams each, while the rest contain four.

The eight group winners will qualify for the AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2026, which is slated to be held in Australia from March 1 to 26, featuring 12 teams.

Australia qualified as host and the People’s Republic of China as defending champions, while the Republic of Korea and Japan secured spots in the tournament as the runners-up and third-placed teams from the 2022 edition hosted by India.

The top six teams at the AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2026 will also qualify for the FIFA Women’s World Cup Brazil 2027.
