Vini Jr has been the subject to persistent transfer rumours in recent weeks as his contract at the Bernabeu winds down.

With Los Blancos appearing increasingly reluctant to offer the Brazil international star a new deal due to huge wage demands, the player’s attitude has also come under fire.

The winger clashed with Real Madrid head coach Xabi Alonso as he was replaced during El Clasico a fortnight ago and was then central to a ruckus involving Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal after the game. This incident has only fuelled rumours that his status at the Bernabeu has fallen.

Manchester City are ready to take advantage of this situation, with Guardiola instructing his side’s board to move for Vini, according to Defensa Central.

The former Barcelona boss believes the former Flamengo star will fit perfectly into an attacking trident with Erling Haaland, who the Cityzens have been overwhelmingly reliant on for goals this season.

City are poised to match Real Madrid’s asking price of €150 million for Vini Jr and are ready to make their move next summer, taking advantage of the player being just a year out from the end of his deal.

Clubs from the Saudi Pro League have also been linked with a world-record move for the Brazilian.

Where will Vini Jr fit in at Man City?

Vinicius Junior is expected to be part of an attacking revolution at Man City, who are aiming to regain the control they once had over Premier League and Champions League football.

He is expected to bring additional cutting-edge to a team that has too often looked one-dimensional with Haaland at its forefront this season.

But such a deal is about more than signing a world-class player; it’s also about City sending a message to prove they are still a powerhouse in the transfer market.
