The new Everton Stadium is sporting a temporary different look as a series of spectacular photographs show a dramatic change as it is covered in the blanket of snow that has fallen on Liverpool. Heavy snowfall overnight on Saturday saw Merseysiders waking up to a winter wonderland on Sunday.

The weather caused a series of disruptions to transport across the city region and among the incidents reported on the roads in the morning were a number of lorries that became stuck on Park Road, Dingle, while a HGV was stranded on Parliament Street on the edge of Liverpool city centre.

Merseyside Police also issued a warning about conditions on Childwall Valley Road while Liverpool John Lennon Airport's runway closed temporarily but reopened at 10.15am.

Despite such problems, and the threat of Liverpool’s Premier League fixture against Manchester United being postponed, the 4:30pm kick-off went ahead after a couple of safety meetings and a huge operation to clear the pitch and access points to the ground that Everton departed in 1892 to move to Goodison Park, the snow helped create some atmospheric images at the Blues’ future home at Bramley-Moore Dock.

Everton’s first team will officially move in by the Mersey waterfront at the start of the 2025/26 football season in August, but on Thursday the club announced that the first game at the 52,888 capacity venue will take place next month when the Blues’ Under-18s team play there for a test event on Monday, February 17, when 10,000 spectators will be allowed in.
