Emma Raducanu was full of praise for Amanda Anisimova after her lopsided win against the American in the fourth round of the 2025 Miami Open.

The 22-year-old Brit dismantled Anisimova, the world No 17, 6-1, 6-3 on the Butch Buchholz Court at the WTA 1000 tournament.

In the opening set, Raducanu did not lose a point on serve and broke Anisimova three times in a dominant display.

The world No 60 faced more resistance in the second set, but she sealed a convincing victory after just over an hour. Raducanu now holds a 2-0 record against the 23-year-old American, who she is friends with.

Raducanu’s triumph saw her progress to the quarter-finals of a WTA 1000 event for the first time in her career.

Having lost six of her seven matches prior to the Miami Open, the 2021 US Open champion has now won registered four consecutive wins.

While commentating for Sky Sports, former British No 1 Annabel Croft claimed Raducanu’s performance was rattling Anisimova.

“Anisimova is absolutely rattled. Her service game… I’m not sure Emma has even lost a point has she?… Dropping the racket there, she (Anisimova) is absolutely fuming,” the former world No 24 said.

“She is all over the place. That sigh says it all. Fed up out here. Not enjoying this. She’s being humiliated.”

After the match, Raducanu sent a warm message to Anisimova, who received treatment at the end of the first set.

“Playing Amanda is never easy, she’s had some amazing wins, top 20 and won a Masters this year,” she told Sky Sports.

Emma Raducanu makes surprising comments after sealing Miami Open quarter-final place

“She’s playing great tennis and I hope her wrist, or something, is okay.”

Raducanu added: “I felt something was maybe going down on the other side.

“And, it’s really difficult to stay focused when your opponent is making some errors and then all of a sudden, [is] just blasting the lines and winners, and you have no idea what’s going on!

“I think those matches, it’s almost tougher to stay so ‘on’ the whole time, because when things are, in a way, more ‘normal’, you have to be locked in every single point. I’m really proud of how I came through that.”

The former world No 10 also spoke about her resurgence after enduring a difficult run.

“I’ve come a long way in the last week, I think, since Indian Wells,” she said.

“I wasn’t necessarily feeling great about my tennis, about everything, but this week I have, yeah, some really good people around me who I trust and who I have fun with off the court as well and that’s extremely important.

“For me, who’s just very expressive, and when I play my best, I’m definitely authentic, true to myself and creative – and I feel when I’m boxed in into a regimented way, then I’m not able to kind of express myself in the same way. So I’m happy with how I kind of realised that this week as well.”

Raducanu will face world No 4 Jessica Pegula in the quarter-finals in Miami.
