“Things have been out of hand on the pitches for a long time,” said Alonso (h/t Mundo Deportivo), whose Real Madrid side secured a 2-1 win over Marseille in their opening Champions League game.

The former Bayer Leverkusen coach added that there is not much coaches can do to change these trends.

“In an ideal world, we wouldn’t have to endure these situations. I don’t complain; I don’t suffer too much, but other colleagues suffer more,” said Alonso.

“Unfortunately, you have to learn to live with it, or it takes you out of the situation you have to be in more, and you see unpleasant situations,” he added.

Finally, Simeone reiterated that these kinds of incidents have been growing exponentially and that coaches must always be careful.

“I haven’t had too many incidents, but on football pitches this has been getting out of hand for a while,” he concluded.
