Pipe Sierra, the journalist who broke the story, tells Semana.com that the transfer is essentially done.

He explains: “There’s already a pre-agreement, there’s already a closed, complete agreement, for Cristian Orozco to become a new Manchester United player.”

Speaking about Orozco’s potential, Sierra talked up the Colombia under-17s captain.

“He’s a midfielder, he has the characteristics of a skilled player, they say he trains very well and makes a difference.”

“He’s been involved in all of the Colombian national team’s development processes. He’s been involved in all of the microcycles and has always thought about continuing his development with the Colombian national team

Another outlet Primer Tiempo, also talked up Orozco’s ability, writing: “A regular in midfield for the Colombian youth national team, has established himself as one of the country’s most promising young players in his age group, with the ability to win balls back and launch from the front line.”

Antena 2 report: “He is the current captain of the Colombian Under-17 national team, characterized by his fierce personality on the field.”

Manchester United playing long game to add options in midfield

Midfield is the major weakness in the Manchester United team, and the position will need strengthening long-term with Casemiro’s contract set to expire in 2026

Ineos have signed part of a new spine for the team, with Senne Lammens, Leny Yoro and Benjamin Sesko, with midfield the major question.

Orozco is a potential solution, with United’s scouting network paying off. Malian youth international Sekou Kone is another recent recruit with high potential, still only 19-years-old.
