PSG transfer stance on Bradley Barcola amid Liverpool links as Harvey Elliott claim made

Liverpool have been linked with a move for Paris Saint-Germain star Bradley Barcola should they fail to secure the services of number one target Alexander Isak. However, a move for the 22-year-old is not being planned, according to Mirror Football.

Barcola is said to be admired by the Liverpool hierarchy but they believe the French champions have no intention of letting him leave and therefore are reputedly not planning to make a move. The club also feels that signing the 22-year-old could hinder the development of 16-year-old prospect Rio Ngumoha.

Ngumoha, 16, has caught the attention of Reds supporters since his move from Chelsea last year and his standout performances in pre-season have made him a strong candidate to feature in Arne Slot's team this season.

The London-born attacker scored his first senior goal against Yokohama FM at the end of July - and wasted no time opening his account at Anfield against Athletic Bilbao this week.

Just two minutes in, Ngumoha had Liverpool fans chanting his name after collecting a loose ball, driving forward, and curling a superb finish into the bottom corner and he later provided an assist for Darwin Nunez.

Elsewhere, Liverpool are apparently not the favourites to sign Giovanni Leoni. Recent reports have claimed that the Parma defender has been tracked by the Reds as they weigh up their options at the back.

The Times reported that Leoni was among the young central defenders across Europe the club had been monitoring. However, it now appears Inter Milan are favourites to land his signature, with their current head coach having worked with the player at Parma last season.

Meanwhile, Harvey Elliott continues to attract interest from Tottenham. According to Football Transfers, Tottenham are stepping up their pursuit of the midfielder following the injury to James Maddison.

Maddison faces missing the majority of the upcoming season after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in the friendly against Newcastle United. The Reds are reportedly unlikely to stand in his way if a substantial offer is made.

Elliott featured in 28 matches for Slot's side last season, playing a role in their Premier League title.
