The Indian men’s football team will play back-to-back ties against Singapore in Group C of the AFC Asian Cup 2027 Qualifiers on Thursday and Tuesday.

The India vs Singapore football matches in the AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers will be available to watch on live streaming and live telecast.

India head into the qualifiers buoyed by their bronze-medal finish at the CAFA Nations Cup last month - their maiden appearance in the tournament.

The Blue Tigers defeated higher-ranked teams, Oman and Tajikistan, and played well against Asian heavyweights, the Islamic Republic of Iran, before conceding three goals past the hour mark to eventually lose the contest. The tournament also marked Khalid Jamil’s debut as India’s national team coach.

India will be further bolstered by Sunil Chhetri’s return to the national team ahead of the first tie to be played at the National Stadium in Singapore. The reverse fixture against Singapore will be held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Goa.

Chhetri, the fourth-highest goal scorer in international football, had retired from national duties last year but reversed his decision to help India’s qualification bid for the AFC Asian Cup. He was not part of India’s squad at the CAFA Cup.

After picking up just one point from their first two matches - a 0-0 draw against Bangladesh and a 0-1 defeat to Hong Kong, China - the double-header against Singapore could make or break India’s qualification hopes.

Singapore currently lead Group C with four points from two matches, while India sit at the bottom with one.

India vs Singapore football head-to-head

The India vs Singapore football rivalry has been evenly contested over the years. India lead the overall head-to-head record with 12 wins to Singapore’s 11, while four matches have ended in draws.

However, the Lions hold the edge at home - winning eight of the 15 encounters played in Singapore. The last time the two sides met in Singapore, they triumphed 2-0 in a 2012 friendly. The most recent clash between the teams in Vietnam in 2022 ended in a 1-1 draw with Ashique Kuruniyan cancelling out Ikhsan Fandi’s opener.

India are currently 134th in FIFA Rankings, while Singapore are 158th.
