Man Utd continue to chase £34m midfield star once likened to Jude Bellingham, he isn't convinced

Manchester United are looking to add a new midfielder to Ruben Amorim’s side this summer, but one target may move elsewhere.

The early stages of this transfer window have focused on the attacking end of the pitch for Manchester United.

Matheus Cunha has made the move to Old Trafford, while United continue to chase Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo.

Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Antony have been made available, while Alejandro Garnacho has been told to leave United.

Attacking replacements will be wanted, but Ruben Amorim also wants signings in other areas, and recent reports suggested United want to sign a midfielder on loan.

Finding a midfielder good enough to improve Amorim’s squad while also being available on loan won’t be easy, so United may need to consider permanent additions.

Manchester United chasing Club Brugge’s Ardon Jashari

Reports from Belgian newspaper Het Laatste Nieuws suggest that United are ‘not giving up’ on signing Club Brugge’s Ardon Jashari.

It’s suggested that AC Milan are leading the race for Jashari and plan to offer around €30million (£25.5million) for his signature.

The problem is that Club Brugge are seeking €40million (£34million) for Jashari, holding out for what would be an outgoing record for Belgian football.

United are allegedly willing to ‘go further’ than Milan in the race for Jashari, but the Swiss midfielder finds a move to Old Trafford ‘less attractive’.

A lack of Champions League football could be a problem for United, while Jashari is understood to have rejected a move to Fulham.

Jashari joined Club Brugge from Luzern in 2024 and made a big impact last season with four goals and six assists in all competitions.

The 22-year-old was a wonderkid in Switzerland, with Sky Germany reporting in 2022 that Swiss sources had likened Jashari to Jude Bellingham in terms of his potential.

Jashari doesn’t possess the goal threat of Bellingham, but he is growing into a quality player in his own right in Belgium.

The Mirror report that United’s interest is a little more advanced than just admiring glances from afar.

It’s stated that United have spoken to Jashari’s representatives to discuss a potential move to Old Trafford.

That report backs up the claim that Jashari has rejected a move to Fulham, but also adds in that West Ham United have been snubbed as well.

Manchester City even considered signing Jashari before landing Tijjani Reijnders from AC Milan, who now want Jashari as his replacement.

Jashari is seemingly in no rush to leave Club Brugge and will only leave Belgium for the absolute right move.

United have yet to make progress in terms of convincing Jashari, but will seemingly continue to chase him until he moves elsewhere.
