‘Big baby’ - Roy Keane shares picture of his new grandson

Football legend Roy Keane has announced he has become a grandfather for a third time.

The commentator, and former footballer and manager, posted the happy news to his 2.3m followers on social media.

The 53-year-old Corkonian shared a picture of himself holding the newborn baby on his Instagram, with a caption: "My new grandson, big baby.”

Mr Keane and his wife of 28 years, Theresa Doyle, have five children – Leah, Caragh, Aidan, Shannon and Alanna – and have three grandchildren.

Many fans have congratulated Mr Keane on becoming a grandfather for the third time in the comments, while also referencing the former coach’s famous quotes from his sports commentary.

Social media users have mentioned the interview from two years ago when Mr Keane referenced Liverpool’s Andy Robertson as a “big baby”.

While speaking in the Sky Sports studio after a Premier League match between Liverpool and Arsenal in 2023, Mr Keane said: "I said at half time: ‘Robertson, what a baby. What a big baby. Just get on with the game. Baby.’”

The fans were also referencing an interview from ten years ago, when Roy Keane was speaking to reporters at a media briefing about Robbie Keane’s availability.

When asked if Robbie Keane will be available, he asked: “Why wouldn’t he be?”

Upon learning that the player’s wife just had a baby, Mr Keane said: "Yeah, but he didn’t have a baby, did he? Unless he’s breastfeeding, he should be alright.”
