Nicolas Jackson has agreed to join Bayern Munich on loan with Chelsea landing a €15 million (£12m) loan fee for the striker. Following the Blues' summer spending, which saw Liam Delap and Joao Pedro enter the fray, the Senegal international has seen his chances of regular game time decrease.

Jackson will join the Bundesliga giants on loan with the deal including a buy option that would take the overall total of any deal to around £56m with a sell-on clause included, football.london understands.

The 24-year-old, who has not been named in each of Chelsea's opening two Premier League matches, is expected to fly to Bavaria to complete his medical ahead of the deadline on Monday - which is earlier for German clubs.

Jackson hasn't featured for the Blues since their 2-0 win over Fluminense in the Club World Cup, where he made a 30-minute cameo. It was his third and final appearance in the competition during a difficult run out for him which saw him sent off against Flamengo.

The former Villarreal star enjoyed a promising start to his career at Stamford Bridge, scoring 14 Premier League goals in his opening season, including a treble against London rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

However, his output and appearances have diminished, making double figures in England's top-flight last year. A red card against Newcastle United spelt the end of his 2024/25 Premier League campaign prematurely.

The writing has been on the wall regarding Jackson's future after comments made by Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca.

"He is training with us [the first-team squad], but he is not going to be involved," he said on August 15.

"You know the situation already. The window transfer is open. He can leave, and we'll see."

Jackson was then passed fit to feature against West Ham United last Friday but Maresca confirmed he would not be selected for the squad.

The Italian added: "He is available but he's not going to be part of the squad because, as we already said, we have two strikers, we have two players in that position and also we know that something can happen before the transfer window closes.

"No idea, to be honest. No idea," he said when asked about Jackson leaving. "You know already from last season that I prefer to be focused on training sessions, prepare the game and these kind of things. I don't know."

With just days remaining in the summer transfer window, eyes will be on Stamford Bridge to see if there is any more movement.

Already, Jamie Gittens and Estevao Willian have joined Delap and Pedro in west London with reports suggesting that Facundo Buonanotte is set to sign from Brighton & Hove Albion.

Fabrizio Romano claimed that the Blues were working on a deal to sign the Argentine on loan.
