Chelsea keen on signing player Thomas Tuchel thinks is a brilliant footballer

It is no surprise when Chelsea are linked with a new target in the transfer market because the recruitment has been relentless under this ownership.

There has been a major turnover of the Blues squad across recent years, shifting towards a focus on signing some of the world’s best up-and-coming players. Hopefully, the Chelsea vision is coming into focus with their young group ready to mature and become serial winners.

Apparently, Chelsea have funds available if they wanted to recruit in January midway through the 2025-26 campaign.

The latest speculation suggests that Enzo Maresca’s side are eyeing a Premier League star as a potential target for next summer.

Chelsea admire Elliot Anderson

According to The Mirror, Chelsea and Manchester City could be in a battle to sign Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson.

It is explained that Man City are plotting a £75m raid for the Forest and England midfielder. Also, Pep Guardiola admires the 22-year-old talent after keeping a close eye on him.

The report says that Chelsea would provide strong competition to sign Anderson, who’s expected to have plenty of admirers next summer.

While the Forest man is quite clearly a super talent on the rise, it is worth noting that Chelsea are already stacked in the centre of the park. The current midfielders at the club include the likes of Moises Caicedo, Andrey Santos, Enzo Fernandez and Romeo Lavia.

Unless Lavia can fix his injury problems, we worry about his long-term future with the Blues. Perhaps that could be one way to open up space in the midfield area.

What Thomas Tuchel said about Elliot Anderson

Thomas Tuchel, the England manager and former Chelsea boss, is quite clearly a massive fan of Forest ace Anderson.

He’s drafted the central midfielder into the Three Lions squad, starting him as the deep-lying playmaker in the previous four consecutive international matches. We’ve seen at club level that he’s capable of playing as a box-to-box midfielder, too.

In September 2025, Tuchel hailed Anderson after his England performance against Andorra.

The England boss said via The Guardian: “He’s just a very, very good football player. He has the physicality, he’s very mobile at No 6. He has the body, he loves to defend, he loves to put his body inside to duels. He loves passing, he loves to break the lines, he’s very mobile in this game.”

It feels like a matter of time before Anderson leaves Forest for a mega transfer, but will he end up at Stamford Bridge?
