Sundar Pichai planning to buy an IPL team? Check Google CEO’s unexpected reply

Is Google CEO Sundar Pichai planning to buy a team in the Indian Premier League (IPL)? Well, that can be a possibility in the future after the Sundar Pichai was found following world's richest league closely.

One of the biggest fans of cricket, Sundar Pichai has already invested in the game as he, along with a consortium of US-based Indian techies, including Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, Google CEO Sundar Pichai, Palo Alto Networks CEO Nikesh Arora, Times Internet Limited vice chairman Satyan Gajwani, Adobe CEO Shantanu Narayen, Silverlake Technology CEO Egon Durban, Sequoia's Jim Goetz and two others, won the bid to own 49 per cent of London Spirit - a franchise in The Hundred.

The remaining 51 per cent is with England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB) as part of the business model of The Hundred. Sundar Pichai's deep interest in the IPL was spotted on Tuesday when he replied to an user's post, "wondering" why Washington Sundar was benched from the Gujarat Titans' plying XI against Punjab Kings in Ahmedabad.

Reacting to the cricketer's snub, a X user wrote, “How Sundar sneaks into the best 15 of India but doesn't get a place in any IPL XI when 10 teams exist is a mystery." The post grabbed Sundar Pichai's eyeballs, who responded, “I have been wondering this too."

Well, for many the post from Sundar Pichai might seem humourous, but it shows how deep the Google CEO follows the league. Interestingly, both Sundar Pichai and Washington Sundar are from Tamil Nadu.
