Wolves star Matheus Cunha has been linked with a January transfer to the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United. Having now scored 11 Premier League goals this season, it is no surprise he was in high demand with his ability quite clearly on display despite Wolves' struggles.

In Saturday evening's 2-0 win against Aston Villa, Cunha ended a four-game goal drought, which was quite considerable given the fact prior to that he had contributed to 12 goals in as many games. Those three points took Wolves out of the relegation zone with Cunha also key to their opening goal.

As he is at the heart of almost every good move going forward, bigger clubs showing an interest is understandable given what he has been able to do in a team not exactly filled with quality. In the last week, the transfer focus has been elsewhere for both United and Arsenal.

However, they got a very clear reminder from Cunha and that has seemingly come with several major transfer updates. With that being said, football.london has taken a look at the latest updates surrounding his future in the Midlands.

Cunha message

Cunha could not have made it more clear message to potential suitors that he had agreed a new contract at Wolves after repeatedly gesturing he was not going anywhere when celebrating his goal against Aston Villa.

The 25-year-old was then captured kissing the badge on his shirt that he had taken off as the celebrations came to a conclusion. A video clip from full time has also emerged which appears to show him gesturing signing a new deal in a far less subtle hint when compared to how he reacted after scoring.

Pereira update

Wolves boss Vitor Pereira has since revealed what Cunha told him, likely ahead of their 2-0 win against Aston Villa.

"The last conversation we had he said to me ‘I will help the team to be in the Premier League next season’," he admitted to Sky Sports following the match. "At the end of the season we will see, but he is very committed to help the team."

Those words are quite the contrast from what he said on Cunha and his body language following the 3-1 defeat away at Chelsea.

New contract 'agreed'

Though talk of a move had gone quiet, Cunha himself has ruled out a late move in the January transfer window by agreeing a new contract, as per Sami Mokbel of the Mail. The Brazil international has been in talks over an extension for the majority of last month before they appeared to hit a stumbling block.

However, it looks as though any issues have been ironed out and that Cunha will stay at Molineux, at least for the next few months. The report revealing an agreement had been reached also suggested a release clause has been included and that will become active in the summer.
