The title rivals go into the match having bounced back from defeats before the international break, and will be looking to record a third straight win.

The Gunners beat Nottingham Forest and followed that up with a 2-0 win over Athletic Club in midweek, beginning the league phase of the Champions League in style.

Arsenal vs Man City team news

Arsenal are sweating on the fitness of Ben White, Bukayo Saka and captain Martin Odegaard after they all missed the 2-0 win over Athletic Club in midweek.

Saka has been absent with a hamstring injury since the 5-0 win over Leeds last month, while White and Odegaard were involved against Forest with the latter limping off with another shoulder issue.

Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz remain sidelined but there’s a big decision to make in central defence as the fit-again William Saliba hopes to win his place back from the impressive Cristhian Mosquera.

Man City could welcome John Stones back after two games out. The central defender took part in training before the win over Napoli but was left out of the matchday squad.

Guardiola had the luxury of withdrawing Rodri early on in the Champions League tie which means the midfielder should be fresh for the quick turnaround.

Rayan Cherki and Omar Marmoush are both sidelined, and the game comes too soon for Mateo Kovacic to make his return despite making good progress.

Arsenal vs Man City prediction

It remains to be seen if those back-to-back wins means Man City really have turned a corner. In reality, Guardiola’s side can’t afford another defeat but as the home side, Arsenal will surely fancy their chances.

The Gunners came in for criticism for their performance at Anfield last month and will be keen to serve a reminder that they can get results in the big games.

Arsenal to win, 3-1.
