Chaos In PAK-NZ Match: Lights Go Out Mid-Delivery, Batter Escapes Scare

Whenever Pakistan cricket team takes the field, there's usually something that grabs attention - be it their fielding or an unexpected moment. But what happened in their third ODI against New Zealand was both surprising and rare, especially considering it took place in a well-equipped venue like Bay Oval.

NZ vs PAK 3rd ODI match, shortened to 42 overs per side due to rain, saw New Zealand post a competitive total of 264 for 8.

Rias Mariyu anchored NZ's innings with 58 runs off 61 balls, including six fours and two sixes. Captain Michael Bracewell played a brisk knock of 59 off just 40 deliveries, hitting one four and six sixes.

For Pakistan, Akif Javed led the bowling attack with four wickets, while Naseem Shah picked up two. Faheem Ashraf and Sufiyan Muqeem claimed one wicket each.

Pakistan started their chase with determination, but despite efforts from Babar Azam - who scored a well-crafted 50 - and Mohammad Rizwan's 37, they fell short, bowled out for 221 in 40 overs, losing by 43 runs.

PAK vs NZ: Sudden blackout mid-ball shocks everyone

The most unexpected moment of the match, however, came during the 39th over of Pakistan's innings. Jacob Duffy was in his delivery stride when, all of a sudden, the floodlights went out. Batter Tayyab Tahir, who was on strike, reacted quickly and stepped away from the stumps just in time, potentially avoiding a dangerous situation.

It's still unclear from the viral video whether Duffy actually released the ball before the lights failed. The sudden blackout caused confusion for a few minutes, but the issue was resolved shortly after, and the game resumed.
