"Just a disappointing outcome for us. I don't think it had anything to do with preparation or effort. I thought the preparation was good during the week and our affort was good today. I think both teams obviously played really hard. In short, we didn't do enough to beat a good football team on their home field, and got to give them credit for that. The series has kind of been decided basically at the end of the game the last six years or so. We had several opportunities during the game that weren't good enough to cash in when we needed to. The two turnovers probably illustrated that - they came up with a touchdown off a turnover and we ended up with a field goal. So the margins are always slim. I think our guys had a real positive effort out there. Got off to a little bit of a slow start, good drive before the half, and then good drive off our own three yard line. After being down 10, came back and tied it up, then we couldn't finish it out and give credit to them on that one. It certainly hurts. It always has, always will in the locker room, and it's not going to go away for a while, but we have to go back to work tomorrow. Basically what I explained to the guys is that it's a 12-week season, it's not two games. We'll go through the tape, see what we can learn, and then, most importantly, see what we can do moving forward, how we can improve. Can we use this to be a better football team moving forward? That's where were at right now.""It was part of the game plan. We practiced all that stuff, and then how much you're going to go to, never know. I thought the offensive staff and the players did a good job. Obviously, for the majority of the first half, we couldn't get anything going. And then that last drive was important. And then halftime, I thought (Iowa State) made really good adjustments. Good players, coaches and made some tweaks, and then we just had a hard time getting our hands on the ball in the second half.""He did a really good job. I think he's illustrative of a lot of guys on our team. A year ago, he was playing, but he's playing at a much better level. You could see it over the course of spring and summer. He's not only playing well, but he's taken a leadership role on top of it. It's going to be critical for us going forward. It's a long season. It's good to see him take that step and playing smart out there. He's a tremendous young guy.""I mean, you want to get the stop and give the offense a chance in better field position than what we had, and keep them at their end of the field and make them punt the long long ago. But, to their credit, the drove the ball. They did a great job of that, and they're a good time of possession team. I think we were at about the 30 at that point and then never really had a chance to get back on the field with decent position.""I mean, we'll take it week by week. We couldn't use Kamari (Moulton) today because he's out and that stuff's going to change week to week, but Xavier's a young guy. Thought he did some good things and this experience is going to help him as we move forward. TJ did a good job out there, too. And then Jaz, that's about how Jaz runs. He runs hard and today that really kind of fit the way the game was going. So I thought he gave us a spark offensively and you can pretty much count on him that way. That's that's one thing he does. He hits it downhill and hits it hard.""Well, I was worried about this one and congrats to them. They got it done and we didn't. So, it's credit to them, and in games like this, they're ranked, we're not. I understand that. At least not right now. But it's two good teams competing out there and all the little things really add up. It's not so much the plays at the end of the game didn't matter, but those other things like I mentioned -- coming up with a touchdown versus a field goal off a turnover, just little things over the course of 60 minutes are going to add up and show up in the end in close games. And that's to their credit, they did a good job on that today and we came up short."
