Manchester United and Jadon Sancho's working relationship looks all-set to come to an end this summer after a tumultuous couple of years.

Sancho was banished from the first-team under the club's previous manager, Erik ten Hag, after claiming he was a scapegoat for the Dutchman. He joined Borussia Dortmund on loan in January and when he eventually returned to Old Trafford, Ten Hag claimed he had patched things up with the winger.

Despite this, on the summer transfer window deadline day - in 2024 - Sancho joined Chelsea on loan with an obligation to buy included. However, after a lacklustre spell at Stamford Bridge, the Blues chose to pay a £5m penalty to cancel the clause and Sancho, ultimately, returned to United instead.

Upon that return, the England international informed the club that he wanted to leave this summer and now it is a race against the clock to get that deal done. So with all this in mind, The Manchester Evening News has rounded up the latest news surrounding Sancho and his potential exit;

Sancho offer submitted

The Manchester Evening News understands AS Roma have launched a bid for Sancho - this summer. The Serie A club would like to loan the forward initially before buying him for £20m at the end of the deal.

It is understood that this would be an obligation to buy. Currently, Sancho is set to depart United on a free in the summer of 2026, so the club will be looking for reassurances they will receive that fee before his contract expires.

Contract demands

According to reports in Italy, as relayed by Football Italia, Sancho's wage is the only thing standing between the winger joining Roma and staying at Old Trafford. To work through the salary concerns, it's thought Roma want to sign the forward to a five-year deal.

This would see him earn £3.89m plus add-ons in his first campaign with the club. This figure would then rise year-on-year. However, it remains to be seen if Sancho would agree to that.

Amorim admission

As we enter the final fortnight of the transfer window, Ruben Amorim has already admitted that Sancho could be welcomed back into the fold should he not leave. "If they reach a point where they will have to join the team, they will join because they are our players," Amorim said of the players who have asked to leave back in July.

"I know for a fact Omar (Barrada, CEO) and Jason (Wilcox, director of football) and the club have a number [price] for these players. If they don't reach that, they will be Manchester United players, no doubt about that.

"I understand other clubs are maybe waiting for the last minute, but they can have a surprise. I'm ready to receive the players."
