'I Can Confirm' - Fabrizio Romano Shares Update on Liverpool and Isak

0
Liverpool remain interested in signing Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak, and the Swedish striker wants to leave the club in the summer transfer window, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Newcastle forward would undoubtedly be of interest to the majority of clubs in world football, but his asking price is likely to put off most of his potential suitors. Reports have suggested that the Magpies could demand in the region of £150m, a fee that would gazump what Liverpool paid for Florian Wirtz earlier in the summer transfer window.

It's been a busy window for the Reds, bringing in Wirtz, Milos Kerkez, Jeremie Frimpong, and Hugo Ekitike, among others, but the Merseyside club don't appear to have closed for business. Securing the signature of Isak won't be easy, considering Newcastle's current stance on allowing him to head through the exit door.

Speaking on his podcast, Romano has reiterated that Isak wants to leave the club in the summer transfer window. The respected reporter confirms that Isak feels that Liverpool are a really important club, ready to compete for the Premier League title again next season.

"I can confirm that the decision has been made on player side. Alexander Isaac wants to leave Newcastle this summer. The player has been clear with the club this week, after having several conversations with his agents to make a final decision on his future. Now, Alexandria is very clear. He wants to go."

Romano adds:

"First point, he feels that now there is a really important club like Liverpool competing to win every single title next season with a fantastic squad, offering the opportunity to put important money on the table."

The Reds were keen on a deal which could total £130m, which might not be enough to secure the Newcastle centre-forward's signature. It will be interesting to see whether Newcastle's stance shifts at all in the coming weeks if Isak continues to push for a move away from St James' Park.

Although it's completely understandable that Newcastle want to keep a player of Isak's calibre, it could cause problems if they keep someone at the club who doesn't want to be there, and the Swedish striker has made it clear that he may want to depart this summer.
