RANGERS Football Club are delighted to announce the signing of Kim Shin Ji on a season-long loan deal from AS Roma, subject to international clearance.

The midfielder becomes Head Coach Leanne Crichton’s first signing of the summer transfer window and makes the switch from the Italian side to bolster the Gers squad for the 2025/26 season.

At 21 years of age, she made the move to the Serie A side at the start of the year in a deal until 2027, as the club finished third in the country’s top division.

She joined the Italian side from GB Uiduk University in her homeland and has featured for her country’s youth teams, playing at the Under-20 World Cup and helping her side to the Round of 16 stage and the Under-20 Asian Cup, finishing third. In 2024 she received her first call-up for the senior South Korea squad.

Kim Shin Ji becomes the third arrival at the club this summer following the permanent signings of Fallon Connolly-Jackson and Alice Griffiths and now will go into the squad ahead of their Ibrox fixture against Hearts this weekend.

Speaking after joining the club for the season, she said: “I’m truly happy to be joining Rangers.

“I’m also very grateful for the warm welcome I’ve received from the club. I deeply appreciate the kindness of my teammates and the coaching staff, and I will give my all to become a player who contribute to the team.

“This season, I will focus on winning every single match with the goal of lifting trophies.”

Women’s Head Coach, Leanne Crichton, said: “We’re absolutely delighted to bring Kim Shin Ji to Rangers. She’s a dynamic, technically gifted player with good experience at a high level even at such a young age and we believe she’ll bring real quality and creativity to the squad.

“It highlights the calibre of player we are targeting and we’re confident she’ll make a big impact on the team both on and off the pitch. We’re excited to see what she can bring to the club this season.”

Women’s and Girls’ Managing Director, Donald Gillies, added: “Securing Kim Shin Ji on loan from AS Roma is a significant addition to our squad and reflects the ambition we have for Rangers.

“She is a player of real pedigree, and her arrival underlines our commitment to bringing top international talent to the club.

“Having tracked her progress at the Under-20s World Cup, we’re confident she’ll make a valuable contribution on the pitch and help continue to drive standards across the team. We look forward to seeing her thrive in a Rangers shirt.”
