Newcastle’s ‘True’ Asking Price For Liverpool to Sign Alexander Isak Revealed

Newcastle United sharpshooter Alexander Isak, in an attempt to force a summer move, is now training with former employers Real Sociedad – and how much the Swede’s current Premier League employers are willing to sell him for has been revealed.

Arne Slot’s Liverpool are the leading favourites in the race for his signature and, according to Sky Sports Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg, the Reds have agreed personal terms with the 25-year-old, who has scored 62 goals for Newcastle.

GIVEMESPORT Key Statistic: Only Mohamed Salah (12) scored more than Alexander Isak’s 11 Premier League goals in 2025.

Whether he would prolong his stay on Tyneside beyond the summer, given how talented he is, was always up for debate – but for one of football’s most exciting centre-forward prospects, it was always going to have to be a hefty offer to lure him away.

Journalist Keith Downie expects transfer to smash the Premier League record

Isak, a 52-cap Sweden international, has made his intentions clear to the St James’ Park higher-ups by making himself unavailable for the club’s pre-season tour in Asia: he wants to move on this summer after three years of service.

In that time, there have been very few strikers that have made such an impact in the Premier League. The silky, yet roaring, goal-getter may have scored plenty of goals – but alongside the potency, you get much more: he can dribble, create and devastate.

Previously, it had been reported that Newcastle would be willing to do business for a fee in the region of £150 million – and journalist Keith Downie agreed that the powers that be at the north-east outfit are holding out for such a lofty figure. On his YouTube channel, he said:

“I fully expect if Liverpool come to the table and offer a big offer, that the deal will get done. It’s just whether Liverpool can come up with the funds or not. I know Newcastle have set the fee at £150 [million] and that’s what they want.”

Downie also suggested that if Liverpool were to table a proposal worth £135 million, the Magpies may be convinced to part ways with their star man, who was pivotal in ending their 56-year trophy drought by scoring in the League Cup final last season.

“I think they’ll end up doing a deal for around about £135 [million], something like that, which still smashes the Premier League record.”

With Isak, any potential buyer would be receiving one of the best strikers in world football. In 2024/25 alone, the lanky Swede – who became Newcastle’s club-record arrival for a fee of £63 million – plundered 27 goals and six assists in all competitions, which includes 23 strikes in the Premier League.

As things stand, Isak’s existing Newcastle deal runs through to June 2028. The Athletic have reported that they’ve been keen to retain his services on improved terms, all while sounding out potential replacements in the event that he move onto pastures new this summer.
