Mark McHugh has been confirmed as the new manager of the Westmeath senior football team.The 2012 Donegal All-Ireland medal winner served as coach to Dermot McCabe this season and now replaces the outgoing manager who had taken the reins of his native Cavan.McHugh was proposed for the role by a five-man sub-committee appointed to oversee the process of choosing a new manager.He previously worked with Davy Burke's Roscommon team in 2023 and coached Galway club Moycullen last year.McHugh was well respected by the Westmeath players and his expected appointment will help ensure continuity.His backroom team has also been announced. Former Offaly boss Emmet McDonnell of Coralstown Kinnegad will serve as assistant manager and selector, Tyrone’s Ryan Daly takes on the role of head coach and selector, with Stephen 'Archie' Beattie joining as coach.Jamie Gunoud of Tyrrellspass will act as selector, while Tom Gribben from Armagh has been named head of performance.Meanwhile, Gregory McGonigle has been appointed as manager of the Armagh senior ladies footballers on a two-year term.McGonigle was previously in charge of the team in 2024 when he led the county to Lidl National League Division One glory.
