Captain Suryakumar Yadav will lead a 16-member Indian cricket team for the 2025 T20 series against hosts Australia from October 29 to November 8, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced on Saturday.Shubman Gill has been named the vice-captain with all members of India’s Asia Cup 2025-winning squad making the cut, except for Hardik Pandya, who has been sidelined due to injury.Washington Sundar, who was a standby in India’s squad for the Asia Cup, made the squad for the Australia series. Meanwhile, all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy was also included in place of Hardik Pandya.World No. 1 Abhishek Sharma and No. 3 Tilak Varma, India’s top two T20 batters in the world rankings, also made the squad. Both batters were prolific for India during the Asia Cup.Jasprit Bumrah and India’s top-ranked T20 pacer Arshdeep Singh will lead the bowling attack. The spin department will be led by world No. 1 Varun Chakravarthy and Kuldeep Yadav, who was India’s top wicket-taker in the Asia Cup.The Australian cricket team is yet to name their squad for the T20I series.India play three ODIs in Australia on October 19, 23 and 25, followed by five T20Is from October 29 to November 8 across five different venues.The T20 series begins in Canberra, followed by the second T20I in Melbourne on October 31. The third match takes place in Hobart on November 2, before moving to the Gold Coast for the fourth T20I on November 6. The series concludes in Brisbane on November 8.Indian cricket team stalwarts Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma - both retired from Tests and T20Is - will be part of the three-match ODI series in Australia.
