Paying heed to the obscurity related to whether Team India will compete against Pakistan in the forthcoming Asia Cup 2025 or not, the chief operating officer of the Emirates Cricket Board has made a major statement. India are scheduled to clash against arch-rivals Pakistan in the Group A encounter of the tournament on September 14, 2025, in Dubai.

However, given the tense relations between the two nations lately, the match has garnered immense attention on social media, where fans have urged BCCI to call off the game against Pakistan, much like how the team of India Champions did when they were scheduled to face Pakistan Champions recently in the second season of the World Championship of Legends.

No WCL repeat in Asia Cup?

Addressing the subject, Emirates Cricket Board COO Subhan Ahmed has conveyed that what transpired in the WCL is unlikely to happen in the Asia Cup.

“We can’t make any guarantees, but comparing the Asia Cup against a private event like the WCL is not a like comparison," Subhan was quoted as saying by The National.

He further stated that a high-end tournament like the Asia Cup progresses only after getting the nod from the governments of the nations participating in it.

“When decisions to play in the Asia Cup are taken, government permissions are taken in advance. That has definitely been done before arriving at the decision of announcing the schedule for the countries. So hopefully we won’t be in a situation as there was at the WCL," he added.

The Asia Cup 2025 will begin on September 9 and will conclude on September 28. It will feature eight teams categorised into two groups. The top two teams from each group will advance to the Super Four stage.

India and Pakistan are clubbed in the same group. Hence, at least one meeting is certain as far as the schedule is concerned. Overall, India and Pakistan can face each other as many as three times if they qualify for the final.
