And the two teams decide to shake hands on a draw. Saurashtra gains three points for the first-innings lead.

100 up for Saurashtra as Gajjar Sammar and Joay Gohil up the ante just a bit, to put pressure back on Karnataka. 123 more needed to win.

SAU 106/4 vs KAR

Saurashtra and Karnataka continue to battle on in Rajkot. Saurashtra is 69/4, needing 160 more to win, which seems unlikely with just over an hour left on the clock.

Bengal beats Uttarakhand by eight wickets to start its Ranji campaign with a win. Abhimanyu Easwaran leads the charge with an unbeaten 71.

Ranji Trophy 2025-26: Shams Mulani spins Mumbai to tense win over Jammu & Kashmir in opening round

Shams Mulani’s seven-wicket haul spun Mumbai to a 35-run victory against Jammu & Kashmir in the opening round of the Ranji Trophy at the Sher E Kashmir Stadium on Saturday.

UP vs Andhra ends in a draw with the former taking the first-innings lead courtesy of a heroic hundred from Rinku Singh.

Similarly, in Thiruvananthapuram, Maharashtra claims three points over Kerala.

Baroda loses three wickets but it gets across the line and claims a seven-wicket win against Odisha.

Rinku Singh gets the job done for UP as he drags his team past Andhra’s first-innings total and that should be the three points for UP.

UP 471/8d vs Andhra

Shams Mulani strikes the final blow as he traps Umar Nazir in front. He ends with a seven-wicket haul. Mumbai clinches a 35-run win against J&K to get its Ranji Trophy campaign underway.

Rinku Singh and Vipraj Nigam continue the charge to get UP the first-innings lead against Andhra. Rinku is closing in on a hundred with UP still needing 168 runs to get the decisive lead.

Pacer Mohammed Shami on Friday claimed that he did not give much importance to chief selector Ajit Agarkar’s latest statement on his fitness status.

Asked about Agarkar’s reported statement at a discussion about the pacer’s fitness, Shami, who is playing for Bengal in a Ranji Trophy match against Uttarakhand, said: “Let him say whatever he wants. You’ve seen how I bowled. It’s all in front of your eyes.”

Earlier on Friday, Agarkar had claimed that the 35-year-old was yet to regain full fitness. “If Shami was here, I would give him an answer. If he is fit, why wouldn’t we have a bowler like Shami? I have had multiple chats with him. Over the last six to eight months, what we have found out is that he wasn’t fit. He wasn’t fit to be picked for England tour,” Agarkar said during an event in New Delhi.

Sticking to the basics paying dividends for Auqib Nabi

Auqib Nabi’s career has been on an upward curve over the past 12 months. The 28-year-old pacer from Jammu & Kashmir took more wickets than any other fast bowler in the 2024/25 Ranji Trophy season -- 44 scalps in eight matches -- and he has begun the new campaign in the same vein: with a five-for against Mumbai at the Sher-E-Kashmir Cricket Stadium on Friday.
