Ola Aina responds to major City Ground announcement at Nottingham Forest

Ola Aina reacted to the latest announcement regarding Nottingham Forest’s potential expansion of the City Ground Stadium.

The Reds currently play their games at one of the most famous Premier League stadiums, and after finishing seventh in the table, the team finally brought European football back to the club.

With two goals and an assist, plus several clean sheets, the 28-year-old played a key role in Forest’s rise up the league table last season, but much of the applause has gone to the manager.

Football Insider understood in March that Forest were desperate to tie Nuno Espirito Santo down to a new deal, and that is exactly what the club have managed in recent days.

Even more exciting news has emerged on Trentside, with the Reds finally receiving a verdict on their City Ground expansion plans after initially applying six years ago.

Taking to Instagram (26 June), the official club account wrote: “The Club are delighted that Rushcliffe Borough Council’s Planning Committee has approved our application regarding the redevelopment of the City Ground.

“We look forward to working closely with our partners on the next steps and will provide a further update in due course,” with the announcement gaining a like from Aina on social media.

It was a tremendous season from all involved at the City Ground, but after slipping to seventh in the Premier League table, some supporters were left disappointed with Europa Conference League football.

Qualifying for the competition, however, should be a huge boost for the Reds to develop and build as a club in the Premier League, battling against the “top-six” teams over the coming seasons.

Due to their brilliant season, the likes of Murillo, Anthony Elanga, Callum Hudson-Odoi, and Morgan Gibbs-White are all being linked with Forest exits this summer.

Football Insider understands that Man City’s interest in Gibbs-White has cooled following deals for Rayan Cherki and Tijjani Reijnders, though Chelsea and Arsenal remain interested.

Losing the England international would be a massive blow ahead of the 2025/26 campaign, but with the stadium plans now being approved, everyone at the club is aiming onwards and upwards.

Supporters are rightly excited about the potential transfer moves this summer, though with Forest set to miss out on Juventus’ Timothy Weah, the Reds must go back to the drawing board.
