United will take on Sunderland this weekend amid increased speculation around Amorim's future as United head coach.

Gareth Southgate truth

Gareth Southgate is being heavily linked with becoming Manchester United manager, if the cliub decides to make a change from Ruben Amorim.

Amorim has been under increased pressure as United boss after a run of three defeats from their opening six Premier League matches this season.

As a result, rumours have been swirling that Southgate could be Amorim's replacement.

Ruben Amorim warning

Ruben Amorim has been warned why he may have reached the 'point of no return' at Manchester United.

Former Premier League striker and Sky Sports pundit Alan Smith believes the writing may be on the wall for the United boss.

Southgate stance on United job

Gareth Southgate would reject an approach from Manchester United if Ruben Amorim is sacked, reports our sister title the Daily Star.

Southgate was one of the leading contenders to become United boss back in March 2024, when club chiefs were considering the future of Erik ten Hag.

But Southgate involvement as England manager at the time proved a major stumbling block.

United were keen to talk to Southgate, but he was determined to remain focused on leading his Three Lions into the Euros that summer.

Southgate has not returned to football since stepping down from his England job. He has focused on speaking engagements, motivational work and has also secured a job hosting a show on the BBC.

Two players back in training

Amad and Tyrell Malacia are both back in first-team training on Wednesday ahead of the Premier League clash with Sunderland.

Amad is back from a short absence due to a family bereavment while Malacia had been put in the bomb squad after returning from his loan spell at PSV Eindhoven.

The club have also confirmd that Noussair Mazraoui remains absent.

Mainoo transfer preference

Kobbie Mainoo is attracting interest from Real Madrid but The Daily Mail have reported that the midfielder's preference is to join Napoli in the summer.

Scott McTominay and Rasmus Hojlund are currently enjoying life in Naples alongside Kevin De Bruyne. A move to the Serie A champions could see Mainoo revive his career.

Glowing Rangnick reference

Former Man United interim boss Ralf Rangnick has already delivered a ringing endoresement of Oliver Glasner amid speculation linking him with the job at Old Trafford.

"For me, Oliver Glasner is currently one of the most exciting coaches - not only in Germany, but in all of Europe. An absolute top coach," Rangnick said in March 2023.

Glasner has received widespread acclaim for his sterling work at Palace, who are currently enjoying an 18-match unbeaten run across all competitions.

Dusan Vlahovic 'interest' re-emerges

Manchester United have been repeatedly linked with Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic in recent months, though that speculation has mainly come from outlets in Itlay.

However, now, German publication Bild claims United are competing with Bayern Munich to sign the Serbian striker in the summer.

There has also been reports claiming Juventus could cash in on the 25-year-old for a cut price fee in order to recoup some transfer funds with his contract expiring in the summer of 2026.

Zinedine Zidane takes to social media after Man United talk amid Ruben Amorim sack pressure

Former Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane has been active on social media while speculation linking him with the Manchester United managerial position continues to pick up pace.

Pressure is continuing to build on Ruben Amorim's shoulders after a dreadful start to life in the Old Trafford dugout. The Manchester Evening News reported on Monday that Amorim retains the backing of United's board as things stand, with club sources indicating that they are not eyeing up replacements

Reports following the 3-1 defeat to Brentford suggested the club had come up with a three-man shortlist to replace Amorim should results continue to disappoint.

Gareth Southgate, Andoni Iraola and Oliver Glasner are the three names said to be on that list, however there also a number of other names linked with a move to United.

Ex-Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidance has been repeatedly linked with a move to Old Trafford, ever since leaving Los Blancos in 2021.

Alejandro Garnacho on 'tough' Man United moment

Former Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho has opened up on his departure from the club after being included in the 'bomb squad' prior to his Chelsea transfer.

"I think it was a difficult moment there, just training alone," Garnacho told TNT Sports after Chelsea's 1-0 win over Benfica in the Champions League. "But I have nothing bad to say about the club, my old club Manchester United.

"It was just a bad moment in life but now I’m very happy to be here and to play in this competition and to get the three points today."

Marcus Rashford Barcelona latest

Barcelona boss Hansi Flick admits it's not been easy for Marcus Rashford since his move to the la Liga outfit earlier this season, despite his rich vein of form.

The England international shone for Barca during their Champions League win over Newcastle United earlier this month and has registered a goal contribution in his last six appearances for club and country.

Speaking to Marca ahead of Barca's clash with PSG in the Champions League, Flick said:

Oliver Glasner's Manchester United comments

Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner has also been linked with the Manchester United job having won two trophies during his time at Selhurst Park.

The Eagles head coach has won the FA Cup and Community Shield in recent months and is currently overseeing an impressive unbeaten run.

When asked about speculation linking him with a move to Old Trafford, he told Kicker: "I follow all the rumours – and that’s all there is – neutrally and completely relaxed.

"Focusing on the daily work with my players and coaches, and trying to enjoy it as much as possible."

Fabian Hurzeler response

Fabian Hurzeler refused to be drawn into talk regarding the Manchester United managerial position amid the ongoing pressure on Ruben Amorim's shoulders.

The young german coach has impressed during his time with Brighton and is one of the names being linked with a move to Old Trafford.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Hurzeler said: "Tough decisions and rumours are always part of this job so you have to accept it, you have to deal with it, but I really want to say that I have a lot of respect for Ruben Amorim so I won’t talk about his job or any rumours that might come.

"Regarding him, I’m really privileged to be a coach for Brighton and Hove Albion, I’m very happy here and we still habe a lot of work to do."
