Coco Gauff began the 2025 Wuhan Open flawlessly, securing a 6-1, 6-0 win over Uchijima Moyuka on Wednesday (8 October).The USA tennis star needed just 51 minutes to win her second-round match at the WTA 1000 tournamentNest up in the People's Republic of China, Gauff takes on either home hope Zhang Shuai or Romania’s Sorana Cirstea.This marks the World No. 3's 18th main draw win in Chinese WTA tournaments since 2023, overtaking China’s own Olympic gold medallist Zheng Qinwen, who has 17.Seeking her first WTA title since lifting Roland-Garros in June, Gauff was clinical on her serve, which she continues to fine-tune with new biomechanics specialist coach Gavin MacMillan.Gauff delivered five aces with an 84.8 per cent serve percentage and didn't commit a single double fault. She also converted five out of eight break points, only allowing Uchijima to hold once in the opening stages of the first set.The Japanese player could only muster five points all match on Gauff’s serve, which gave her no respite nor opportunity to build up momentum in Wuhan. It is Gauff who marches on into the round of 32 in pursuit of WTA 1000 glory.
