ICC to Discuss Asia Cup Trophy Issue During Upcoming Meeting

The growing perception within the cricketing community that the International Cricket Council (ICC) is biased in favor of the BCCI is likely to gain more traction after reports emerged that the Indian board plans to raise the Asia Cup trophy issue at the upcoming ICC meeting.

According to Indian media reports, the BCCI is set to revisit its long-standing dispute with Asian Cricket Council (ACC) President Mohsin Naqvi over the Asia Cup trophy presentation incident during the meeting scheduled for November 4–7 in Dubai.

The controversy began when the Indian team, after winning the Asia Cup, refused to receive the trophy from the PCB Chairman during the post-match ceremony. The move drew widespread criticism, with many calling it a “needless display of arrogance.” Later, the BCCI wrote to the ACC President requesting the trophy be sent directly to them, but Naqvi reportedly stood firm, insisting that the Indian captain must attend a formal ceremony to receive it. The BCCI declined.

Now, sources say the BCCI is preparing to escalate the matter to the ICC Board Meeting, not only to demand the trophy’s return but also to push for Naqvi’s removal from his post.

Meanwhile, it remains unclear whether Mohsin Naqvi will attend the ICC meetings himself, as he had skipped the annual gathering earlier this year.

For now, all eyes are on Dubai, where the BCCI’s move to internationalize a regional dispute could add yet another twist to cricket’s seemingly never-ending political drama.
