Alexander Zverev did not have the US Open tournament that he would have been hoping for.

Zverev lost in the first round of Wimbledon, and was hoping to perform better at the US Open on his preferred hard courts.

However, that did not come to fruition, with Zverev achieving an unwanted record after his third round defeat to Felix Auger-Aliassime.

As a result of his exit, Zverev has left an opening for four ATP players at the US Open and he has now reacted to his latest defeat on social media.

Alexander Zverev posts on Instagram for the first time after his US Open exit

Zverev reached the Australian Open final earlier this year, where he was beaten in straight sets by Jannik Sinner.

The world number three has been unable to match this since then, and has not reached the semifinals of any of the other three Grand Slams.

Now that his Grand Slam season is over for 2025, Zverev has taken to social media to reflect on his US Open defeat.

In a brief message on Instagram, Zverev wrote, “See you next time, New York. Wish [I] could have stayed longer.”

What is next for Alexander Zverev after the US Open?

Zverev will now look to regroup from his disappointing US Open campaign, but he will now actually remain in the States.

As part of Team Europe, Zverev will make a joint-record sixth appearance at the Laver Cup this year in San Francisco.

Zverev made history at the Laver Cup last year, and will be looking to do the same alongside Carlos Alcaraz, Holger Rune, Casper Ruud, Jakub Mensik and Flavio Cobolli.

The 28-year-old is currently third in the race to the ATP Finals, and he will look to secure his place in the year-end event during the Asian swing.

Zverev’s next scheduled ATP tournament is at the China Open, where he will be the second seed behind Sinner.
