Asia Cup: Suryakumar Yadav found guilty of breaching ICC code of conduct for Pahalgam comment

ICC has declared India’s captain, Suryakumar Yadav, guilty of violating its code of conduct following remarks he made that indirectly referenced the border tensions between India and Pakistan. The incident occurred after their Asia Cup group-stage clash on September 14. He has been fined 30 percent of his match fee, the tournament organisers said on Friday as per PTI.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) lodged a complaint with the ICC, alleging that Suryakumar Yadav’s comments after the September 14 match, made during both the post match presentation.

In its submission, accessed by ESPNcricinfo, the PCB pointed out Suryakumar’s words where he said, “I dedicate today’s win to our armed forces.”

Suryakumar pleaded not guilty to the charge and was apparently told not to make any statement that could be construed as political in the remainder of the tournament.

The India skipper's hearing was conducted by ICC match referee Richie Richardson.
