Cutter Boley continues to find new ways to elevate the Kentucky football team. Against Tennessee Tech, he did it by lowering his shoulder. The Kentucky quarterback couldn’t find an open receiver. It looked like the Golden Eagles were going to gobble him up for a sack. Instead, he turned on the jets and got the corner. Once he sprang free, he tiptoed down the sideline.Defenders were waiting for Boley near the goal line. Rather than run out of bounds, he ran right through them.“I was a little bit dumbfounded,” Mark Stoops admitted after the game. “Then I said, ‘Did he score?’ I mean, he scored. So, you know what? That’s fun.”It sure was fun. That touchdown lit a fire under the Kentucky football team.“I hope there is a camera angle of us on the sideline ’cause all of us were jumping around, HYPED,” said safety Ty Brant. “It gives us all the confidence in the world.”“Man, I tell you, I ain’t never been so turned up in a football game before. That boy crazy,” added Seth McGowan. “That just shows you what type of player he is. He’s gonna do everything he can for this team. He’s a selfless guy. At that point, you can’t ask much more, especially from a young player like he is.”Kendrick Law was excited, but not surprised.“Nothing. That’s Cutter each and every day,” said the Kentucky wide receiver. “The pop was amazing to see. In good moments, we want him to be smart. In that moment, he did what he had to do to get in, and I loved it.”As awesome as it was, there were a few folks on the sideline who were worried about the health and safety of their starting quarterback.“You do not want to see that,” said Stoops. “We were just talking about that. We got to teach him how to protect himself a little bit. But some of that is going to fire up your team, and for him to lower his shoulder and get in the end zone, you know, it just shows another element to his game and what he’s willing to do for his team.”Boley knows that he can’t put himself at risk. However, when you’re a ball player, sometimes you just gotta play ball.“That probably wasn’t the smartest on my part, but I wasn’t really thinking about that at the time. I was just playing,” said the Kentucky quarterback. “I need to slide. I did get in the end zone though, I did. Yeah, that makes it a lot better.”If you have a chance to score, go score. If you have a chance to convert in a critical situation, the risk is worth the reward.“I think it’s flow of game,” said Bush Hamdan. “If we’re talking fourth quarter, if it’s a critical third and six on the line, there’s a chance to insert yourself from a leadership standpoint in that. But certainly, from a value standpoint, you gotta learn to protect yourself, you gotta learn that it’s okay to run out of bounds, but not take the competitive nature away from him.”Cutter Boley is a competitor who is taking this Kentucky football team to new heights. The only question remaining is how far can he take them?
