King, Mooney Earn World Cup Selection

Mooney has played an important role in various positions in the Australian batting order across all formats over the past year. The stylish left-hander was the leading run-scorer with 409 runs at 68.16 in last summer’s CommBank Women’s Ashes series against England, which included a well-compiled 106 in the historic day-night Test at the MCG.

The 31-year-old was also player of the series with 166 runs at 83 in Australia’s T20 series win over New Zealand in March.

King also excelled in last summer’s comprehensive defeat of England, picking up player of the series honours for her 23 wickets. The bowling allrounder took 11 of her 23 wickets in the ODI component of the series, including 5-46 in the final game.

The 29-year-old’s efforts were recognised with the 2024-25 Gold Cup after being adjudged by local media as the most valuable Western Australian representative on the international stage.

The Australian side will be out to win the event for a record-extending eighth time when the campaign begins against New Zealand at Indore on 1 October.
