Indian men’s cricket team fast bowlers Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh along with women’s cricketers Smriti Mandhana and Shreyanka Patil have been nominated for the ICC Awards 2024.

Jasprit Bumrah has been nominated for two prestigious annual cricket awards - the Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy for Men’s Cricketer of the Year and the ICC Men’s Test Cricketer of the Year.

The 31-year-old fast bowler was instrumental in helping India win their second T20 World Cup earlier this year. Bumrah picked up 15 wickets from eight matches, including two against South Africa in the final. He was named the Player of the Tournament.

He is miles ahead of other Test bowlers in the list of top wicket-takers this year, accounting for 71 dismissals from 13 Tests - 19 more than second-placed Gus Atkinson of England.

Bumrah has taken five five-wicket hauls in Tests this year with the best of 6/45 coming against England in February. He averages 14.92 per wicket at an economy of 2.96.

The fast bowler reached the landmark of 200 Test wickets in the fourth match of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia. With a Test average of 19.56, he is the first bowler in history to concede less than 4000 runs for 200 wickets.

He led India to a famous 295-run victory against Australia in Perth on his Test captaincy debut. He is No. 1 in the ICC Men's Test Bowling Rankings.

Smriti Mandhana has been nominated for the ICC Women’s ODI Cricketer of the Year. From 13 innings, Smriti scored 747 runs at an average of 57.46 and an impressive strike rate of 95.15.

Her year included four centuries and three half-centuries in the women’s ODI cricket. Smriti scored two centuries against South Africa in June and one apiece against Australia and New Zealand.

Arshdeep Singh, nominated for the ICC Men’s T20I Cricketer of the Year, emerged as a bright prospect of the Indian bowling pack in the format. He picked 36 wickets from 18 matches, averaging 13.5. He was also part of the T20 World Cup 2024-winning Indian cricket team this year. In the final against South Africa, he gave away just four runs in the penultimate over.

Suryakumar Yadav, winner of the ICC Men's T20I Cricketer of the Year for the last two years, missed out this time.

Shreyanka Patil has earned a nomination for the ICC Emerging Women’s Cricketer of the Year. The 22-year-old off-spinner has picked up a total of 19 wickets - 15 in 13 T20Is and 4 in two ODIs - this year. She was part of the Indian team at the Women’s T20 Asia Cup and the T20 World Cup.
