Wimbledon: Sinner bests Alcaraz to claim first Wimbledon title

A forensic lip reader has laid bare Princess Kate's touching message to Wimbledon star Jannik Sinner following his triumphant win over the weekend. Yesterday (July 13), the Italian player secured his first Wimbledon title after beating reigning champion Carlos Alcaraz (the world number two) in four sets, stopping the Spanish player from scooping a third consecutive win. The 23-year-old secured a win of 4-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4, just 35 days after losing to Alcaraz in the French Open final. His Wimbledon win played out in front of a number of A-list celebrities, including Matthew McConaughey, Nicole Kidman and Keira Knightley. Also in attendance were the Prince and Princess of Wales (who would later present the trophy to Jannik on the court) and their children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte. When the time came for the tennis ace to approach Princess Kate to receive the trophy, the pair could be seen exchanging a few words as the crowd, tennis officials, and others applauded him. Princess Kate shared a touching message with Jannik Sinner

The Italian player has secured his first Wimbledon title

Now, Jeremy Freeman, an expert witness and forensic lip reader, has revealed the touching message that Kate, who was wearing a blue dress, had told the world number one player. According to Jeremy, Princess Kate said: "You played a great game, you did so well….enjoy your celebrations." Kate, who is a patron of the All England Lawn Tennis Club, was greeted by a standing ovation when she arrived on Centre Court on Saturday (without William) to watch the women's final. As she took to the court after the men's competition, shouts of "I love you, Princess" and "love you, Kate" could be heard. She also presented the runner-up shield to Alcaraz and shared words of comfort with him. Speaking about his loss in an on-court interview, Alcaraz said: "It's difficult to lose. I have to congratulate Jannik once again. It's a really well-deserved trophy."

Princess Kate presented the Wimbledon trophy to the world number one

Meanwhile, once Sinner received the trophy, he said: "I had a very tough loss in Paris. But it doesn't really matter how you win or lose the important tournaments, you just have to understand what you did wrong, try to work on that." He continued that "this is for sure" one of the reasons why he had scooped the trophy, adding that he was "very happy" that he'd held his nerves and that it was an "amazing feeling". Yet, one incident during the match caused upset and led to a telling off from umpire Alison Hughes. A spectator was scolded after letting off a champagne cork as Sinner was forced to postpone a serve. Kate was also seen wearing her 'Wimbledon bow', which displays the competition's colours. The brooch, which she received from the late Queen Elizabeth II, is a symbol of royal patronage. The Princess of Wales took on the role of patron in 2016, with the position previously held by Elizabeth II for a staggering 64 years.
