WAFCON 2024: Michelle Alozie's inspiring message on balancing football and medicine: 'You don't have to choose'

Michelle Alozie wears two powerful hats.

By day, she is chasing goals on the pitch as a professional football player for Houston Dash; by night and often between matches, she’s in a lab coat working as a cancer research technician at Texas Children’s Hospital.

Both worlds demand the very best of her.

Football means endless travel, gruelling training sessions and the constant wear and tear on the body. On the other hand, medical research is no less intense; long hours spent studying complex data, running trial after trial and keeping pace with the fast-moving world of science.

Each path is tough on its own and very rarely do people mix both. But that’s the 28-year-old Nigerian's reality.
