Pau Cubarsi is set to return to Barcelona after sustaining an ankle injury in Thursday’s Nations League draw with the Netherlands.Barcelona had been eager for the defender to return, while Spain reportedly wanted him to stay and potentially play against the Netherlands again on Sunday.However, it’s now been confirmed that he’s leaving the Spain camp after undergoing further tests.“Following tests conducted by the Royal Spanish Football Federation’s Medical Services, it has been decided that the player will return to his club, FC Barcelona, to begin his recovery from the discomfort in his right ankle, which prevented him from completing the match against the Netherlands at Rotterdam’s De Kuip stadium,” read a statement.Barcelona will now be hoping that Cubarsi’s injury isn’t too serious and he can be back in action soon.Hansi Flick’s side have already lost Inigo Martinez and Marc Casado due to injury and are facing a game against Osasuna next Thursday.
